I've been using my Spy27 N5 more recently and really like how easy it was to sharpen. Edges that last for ever are nice, but so are edges that are super easy to maintain. Are you into Mule Teams?Manixguy@1994 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 11:23 amThe sprint really appeals to me since I don’t have SPY27 ( I know my bad ) and just a prediction the scales should be a different color . All three steels will satisfy just about everyone. Who know , exclusive models could be on the horizon. Dan

I got the first in 52100 and sold it a couple years ago . I only have the Magnacut and having a custom sheath made so it’s at the shop .z1r wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 2:03 pmI've been using my Spy27 N5 more recently and really like how easy it was to sharpen. Re: Stretch XL discussion
I'll probably get one in SPY27 or Cruwear. I like the size, how lightweight it is and it's the best looking Stretch IMO.

It has everything going for it to fall into that category. Potential is there if sales are promising . I would be in line for a Salt model . Dan

I litterally said I'll take it the secomd I saw it. I feel exactly like you do about size, weight, looks, and feel.
After sharpening my Spy27 N5 recently, I really appreciate how easy it is to sharpen and how keen an edge you can get with so little effort. Definitely down for one of eack, the knife is that good!
Re: Stretch XL discussion
Ouch, I think I would have liked the 52100. I got the Magnacut, just installed the scales that FullScaler so generously offered in his contest. I still need to post pics, I love the way the scales look.Manixguy@1994 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 2:56 pmI got the first in 52100 and sold it a couple years ago . I walked into the SFO a week or two ago and lo and behold, there was one lone S45VN MT. I snagged it in a hurry.
You like S45VN or Spy27 better?

Re: Stretch XL discussion
I have never tried SPY27 yet but did have a PM2 in S45VN and liked it but sold it when I was able to get a lefty PM2 . The grind was phenomenal probably one of the best I have ever received from Spyderco . If I go with SPY27 , It would probably be the XL or Manix2 . Thanks for that!
This is the first pic of a "real" Stretch XL SE I see (I may post the pic from the KnifeWorks page below).
So far all I am aware of showed probably / perhaps just "photoshopped" serrations of different kinds, so one could not be sure how exactly the particular serration pattern on the Stretch XL SE would look like
Now this seems to be an actual photo of a Stretch XL SE, and I like what I see:
- Rather shallow serrations it seems
- And a good amount of PE towards the tip
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Re: Stretch XL discussion
By the way, aren't serrations like a box of chocolates?
Re: Stretch XL discussion
Kind of... whenever a model comes out in SE for the first time..

Re: Stretch XL discussion
I thought I would buy the SE as soon as it dropped, but based on the PE that arrived a few days ago, I've decided to wait. If it were a Salt I'd jump on it right away, but I'ma wait on a few reports from forumites before buying this one.

I hope when these steels are released there's a new SXL thread for them? That's how I watch for releases...if the discussion goes deep into a thread like this, I'll prolly miss it.

Dang, the CE has nearly as much useable PE as a Delica. Not quite but still!
