Very nice! I'm learning a lot. #1 Don't ask and don't google it. They have some very nice designs.
I know I haven't kept up lately but I've bought both a Slayback XL and a Turbo (same length, similar to the Magnitude, also by Peter Carey) in teh past couple of months. That Slayback XL might be the sliciest thing I own. No idea how thick it is behind the edge, but I'm leaning to VERY slim there, the angle seems fairly low but the microbevels are itty bitty and that ZDP-189 just glides through things. Don't expect toughness but it is sure a cutting machine. The Turbo isn't quite as slicey but is another well-built Carey design, like a magnitude without a hole and looks and feels great, also in ZDP-189.
Glad to hear a positive review on it. I'm surprised it's been available for as long as it has. For the size and materials, that's a darn good deal on a great looking knife.
Im surprised too. If I would of known they were making a XL Slayback I probably would of rather had that then the XLC. But the XLC is a pretty sweet and light integral!
I'm surprised it cost 25% less than the xlc with san mai zdp-189 steel. is it that much cheaper? I'd be curious as to why the price was so much lower. The turbo cost 5 bucks more. I always glanced over them before, thinking the designs were either a little small or didn't stand out. Then those two came up, one after another. I'm curious about the Magnacut Sea Otter but not sure I'm ready to pay close to twice as much though I'd really like to hold and see one in person. difference in USA made vs made in China (I'd read that the first sea otter run was from China but they are obviously getting some great quality from their factory.
Any idea who makes 'em? Miguron? Real Steel? I'd heard speculation but nothing specific.
Not sure what to make of this one yet... Classy, subtly gorgeous, wicked sharp! Hardest pull of any slipjoint I've used, strongest closing bias I've ever encountered, could easily chop off the end of a finger. Not sure such a strong closing bias is safe with the thin, slick blade and handle. The nail nicks are useless. A lot heavier than it looks. A few positives, a few negatives. I'm going to work with it, see if it breaks in. If it does, I'll gladly keep it. If not, I shouldn't have any trouble moving it. They're selling like hotcakes.
Thank you Coastal ! Glad to see both knives . I appreciate the pictures very much . Dan

I’m not sure who makes them. I have a XLC and it’s an awesome knife. If anyone wants a good deal on it shoot me a PM.
The small ain’t left the pocket since I got it. Might be my favorite
Glad to hear! Have you tried a Small Inkosi yet?
No sir. I was looking for a small micarta inkosi to pair with my large micarta inkosi and after a while I just gave up and sold the large because I never carried it over these 2.
I have the same Viper Swayback from CK (mine is ebony, though) and I really like it.
I'm quite enjoying the Roundhead. I picked up a slim Shuffler (the clip point blade) in CF around a year ago and liked that enough to want to try another.
The cf + clip blade make the Shuffler a really nice lightweight, but I think the heavier Roundhead blade profile matches well with the titanium scales.
Haven't used the Swayback as much as the Roundhead yet but the build quality is equally impressive.
