Blade Centering Question
If the blade, in closed position, is a little off-center, is there a way we can center it?
"stay puft."
Re: Blade Centering Question
Yes.
You can play with screws, losen the pivot screw on one side, tighten on other side, play a bit with handle screws, there are some methods out there, if you search on YouTube you will find some.
IMO, it doesnt bother me at all.

Re: Blade Centering Question
Make sure you search for the exact model you have, or at least knives with the same lock type and handle type(standoffs, back spacers, liners, no liners, etc) since different knife types have different fixes. Most of the time, an off-center blade can be easily fixed.
Re: Blade Centering Question
Loosen all screws, place blade at 90 degrees, tighten pivot, snug all screws, adjust pivot to taste.
I can't get all blades centered, but as long as they function correctly and don't rub the liners I'm OK with it. For example my pm2 and manix 2 aren't centered and are just fine.

Re: Blade Centering Question
Basically, fold up a sheet of paper. Then loosen but don't remove all the screws on both sides. Wedge the paper between the blade and liner on the side you want to push the knife in. Then slowly start snugging down the screws Ina sequence, I usually start with the pivot, so start with one side of the pivot then the other, and then alternate back and forth side to side going down the handle doing 1/4 turns each time over and over until snug. Then cross your fingers and pull out the paper.
If that doesn't work, do it again but when you have the screws loose, flex the handle like you're trying to bend the knife in half (while closed). You should see how this moves the blade depending on which side you bend it on. Sometimes you can get it centered just by doing this but you'll probably have to do the paper thing too. Often times it's not so much that the blade is off center, it's more like the scales are warped and not parallel with the blade.
Between the folded up paper and the bending/flexing trick I don't think I've had a knife I couldn't get centered.

Re: Blade Centering Question
I just fixed my K390 Police 4.
I adjusted the pivot and lockback back screw (the screw next in line with the pivot screw) and got a really nice action but still not centered.
So what worked for me was I loosened the butt of the knife last 3 screws and did the bend technique while holding the bend as I tightened them back up. It's perfect now!

Hey I’m going to try this on my off center police 4 k390 as well. Trying to understand the technique. So loosen the last 3 screws then try to bend the body of knife either way while the blade is closed?Setheronie wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 9:48 amI just fixed my K390 Police 4.
