First one in 1989!
Only ever sold one and gave one away! Now have more than I need but not as many as I want and as far as Mrs G is concerned, "This one?! Oh, I've had it ages!!"

First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

HOW MANY NOW: too many, see below
FIRST SPYDIE: about 2.5 years ago
HOW MANY OWED, TOTAL: stopped counting at 200, that was a while ago :o
have sold or traded half a dozen or so, given another dozen or so as gifts, not counting perhaps another dozen or so where I just helped an overseas :spyder: holic out when a US seller was reluctant to ship out of the country.

ONly just begun
The First Spyderco I ever bought was a SS Mariner with GIN-1 fully serrated in 1995
Right now I probably own about 130 of them not counting some of my EDCs
All together if you count all of the ones I have done trades with and gave away as gifts or just to make friends with people I have probably went through   Well to be honest I can't really say
I don't plan on quiting anytime soon. As a matter of fact I have several items here at the house I plan on selling so I will have more Spyders to enjoy.
Now my knife collecting is not just limited to Spyders I also like Benchmade, Buck, Cold Steel and a few Victorinox. I will not let myself get into custom knives at all. IF I did I would surely be living under a bridge. :D :spyder:

FIRST SPYDERCO: 1997 (Snap-It) I got it for $29 at Dick's Sporting Goods in a mall becuase the guy behind the knife counter didn't know what it was and couldn't find a price. He thought it was a Buck or Schrade but I knew it was a Spyderco. It was the first Spyderco I ever saw in person. I told him I wanted to buy it and he got so flustered looking for a box for it with a price that he said "I don't know! How does $29 sound?" He was comparing it to some Buck or something. I looked at him and thought "WOW, this guy has no clue what this is!" LOL
:D

Loads....
....I now have 267  (excluding :spyder: for sale) I didn't realise there were that many.
First :spyder: about twenty years ago but only started collecting about three years ago. I have sold and traded about 400 and given a few away as gifts. My son, (7) is showing so much interest in them that I feel they will pass into safe hands.

Just a quick look see, it looks like your good self, JDSpydo and The Deacon are the front runners!
I think it's even better no-one plans giving up any time soon!

But, I think this thread could do with some pics! :D
