A knife gifted you'd never let go
Re: A knife gifted you'd never let go
A childhood friend gave this to me when we were only kids. He used his own money to buy it. I think we may have been 9 or 10. It will stay with me forever. It actually may have been my first knife??? I do not remember one before it. I think I had a machete before this.

This was given to me by my best friend in middle school. I've had it going on half a century now. My bestie is gone, but I have this to remember him by.

Being a teacher (actually asked to teach to 3 to 6 years old), I LOVE the idea of 9yo kids running with a machete !JSumm wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 10:00 amA childhood friend gave this to me when we were only kids. Ha! Lived in the woods in Florida. I think I had a BB gun before the knife too.

Re: A knife gifted you'd never let go
Old enough to remember when, as Freshman in High School, my Chemistry teacher asked if anyone had a knife. I busted out my Buck 110 and she never batted an eye, opened it, used it, closed it, and returned it to me with a thank you. Now, the cops would close down the school.Ramonade wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 2:06 pmBeing a teacher (actually asked to teach to 3 to 6 years old), I LOVE the idea of 9yo kids running with a machete !JSumm wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 10:00 amA childhood friend gave this to me when we were only kids. Re: A knife gifted you'd never let go
I have a Buck 110 which was a groomsman gift for my best friend's wedding. It has my initials engraved on the brass bolsters. He passed away last year, way way too early.
Re: A knife gifted you'd never let go
Sorry CJK. That is one you will never forget and never let go.

Re: A knife gifted you'd never let go
A friend who got me serious collecting and using knives over 20 years ago gifted this Delica last Christmas. I’ve actually never cared much for the Delica but his persistence that I needed to try one has started me rethinking my tastes . Dan

I have grown to really like them. They're a handy, time proven design. They really do grow on you . That's a really nice one.

Re: A knife gifted you'd never let go
The First Picture is of the greatest gift i ever got. My Girlfriend gave me this 6 years ago when we were 1 year together.
These 2 knives are my oldest knives in my collection. The largest one i got from my late grandfather he was and will always be the biggest inspiration in my life. I did not spend as much time with him as my brother did. But i do remember all the fun moments we had the 3 of us together building camps in a nearby forrest. He was our teacher on how to use knives and build many many things. And he is responsible in a way that Me and my Brother carry a folding knife everyday.
The Smaller one is definitely the oldest of my collection my dad gave it to me one day. It belonged to his grandfather who died long before i was born. So one day i will give it to one of my brothers kids. And hope he will treasure it and all the memory’s attached to it as i do.

Gifted to me during a hunting trip, helped my Friend from MN with his vehicle troubles and transporting him to hunting camp; wasn't expecting this at all but pleasantly surprised!
