Jason Beatty and I had an amazing opportunity to interview Eric via Facebook Live in the Spyderco Millie, PM2, Para 3 club for a very informative and fun hour. We recorded the live feed and posted the interview to YouTube, check it out!

Great interview.
I saw the live stream and it was fantastic to see and hear Eric talk about a whole heap of different things from steels, models, and other interesting things that Spyderheads want to know.
Can’t wait for the next one.
Make sure to post up the link in the Facebook group when Eric pops in again.

That was great, thanks for sharing! It's always good to hear Eric share glimpses from behind the curtain.

Best part was hearing about all the collabs in the works; that they are just trying to keep up with designers and hope to have several out in the not too distant future...(Rasenti, Slysz, Perrin)

Eric was super generous with his time and answers and gave some insight on the lack of Vanax in the catalog.

Good stuff, thanks again.
So it goes.

For the people who don't have the time to watch, here are the most important bits :

- PM2 LW will be at the SHOT Show 2022. Eric said Spyderco learned a lot from the Para 3 LW, so we can expect some stuff to be improved for the PM2 LW.
- The PM2 is moving more and more into its third iteration. - Misheard this one, Eric tip toed around the question ;)
- The Military 2 will be at SHOT SHOW 2022 and it will be a compression lock. No words on the liner lock version.
- LW Shaman will be at Shot Show 2022.
- White G10 is complicated to make. Eric was carrying a white PM2 in his pocket, to test the color and how it evolves, so that might be an indication that more G10 are coming.
- No words on the Slysz Bowie. *cry*

Eric is as cool, kind and generous with his answers as always. The two others guys are nice and chill. Good moment no doubt, I didn't see the time fly.

Note : thomasomoore, if you have time of course, it would be cool to use chapters on your youtube videos, just so we can know what's the subject and move from subjects to subjects.

Edit : added two points.

Thanks much a Xformer, just what I wanted to know!
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Very interested to see the overall changes to the Military. We already know of the lock, but will it have a four way clip? pm2 style choil? etc.

Also curious to see how the Para 2 gen 3 looks, and what changes they have in mind for the model.

All this upcoming LW stuff pretty much tells me I won't be buying many Spyderco knives anymore. I've gradually been taking other paths over the past year. A bit bummed, but also excited to experience other things...though they tend to be much more expensive :/

There is no implication in the interview that a Paramilitary 3 is impending. Jason asked, and Eric just talked about the full liner and linerless variations.

I thought that the Para 3 IS the third in the Paramilitary series.

Nope, it's a different pattern. The PM2 is a 'Para Military' pattern, second iteration. The Para 3 is a 'Para 3' pattern, first iteration. The '3' in Para 3 indicates the blade length in inches, and is part of the pattern name, not an iteration number. There could theoretically be a Para 3 2 at some point, along with a Para Military 3.

The Para 3 and Paramilitary 2 are entirely separate platforms.

The “3” in the “Para 3” name does not imply that it is the next evolution of the Paramilitary 2. It’s an indication of blade length.

My favorite part was talking about matching the lock steel for the blade steel. I have always wondered if it matters and Eric confirm hard steels can wear out a soft lock interface.
