Hey Yablanowitz,

I just wanted to jump in here and say it was good to meet you. It's nice to be able to put a face to a name. It was interesting sitting there waxing nostalgic about our days in the Navy. (For those of you reading this, he was on the USS George Washington under the water and I was on the USS Ranger 90 feet above the water. ;) )

I see you found an Assist. I was looking for one, but by the time I got there they were all gone.

Take care and I might see you next year.

All these Native Chiefs at hand reach... I'm gonna join an exchange program for teacher between France and the USA ! I'll certainly pick the end of the year, and near Colorado :')

Is it just a non stop sound of knives being flicked open and close all day long? This just came to my mind...If so, I don't think I could handle it haha!

Yeah, pretty much. Every now and then a couple of guys will nod their heads, point at a knife and grunt in agreement. Then there's the occasional Tim Allen grunting sound out loud when they've found a real gem. :winking-tongue

By the end of the day, my thumb was so sore, I couldn't flick another knife!

I initially picked up a ton of exclusives, several Saint Nicks which seemed to be coveted by many. In the end, I realized I had about four times as much as I could afford and had to begin the painful process of pairing down. Most of the exclusives I put back were Manix 2's and one real sweet Manix XL in M4. I realized that, while the exclusives were really nice, none were LW's which I actually will carry. So, back they went along with nice "tree-rex" Shaman as one guy called it. I wanted that Shaman but discovered a corner of the wood missing just as I was about to check out.

I ended up with these 4 which I really like a lot and know I will carry, with the possible exception of the Chief which is too long. But hey, it's so darn nice! I'm really stoked about the Cru-Wear N5.

Image

Here's the total haul. The surprise of the bunch is the Spy DK. Liked it so much I got two. Wish I had gotten ten more as gifts. Next year!

That CPM CRUWEAR Native 5 is tempting... I've started to amass way too many N5s xD

Oh man, I never considered that. My misophonia would probably drive me crazy hearing that all around.

I'd like to make the trip at least once, or at least have an idea of what I would like someone else to pick up for me. My problem is I'd likely get in there, and unless I had a particular model in mind, I'd probably walk out empty handed.

I feel like it would remind me of a few years ago, tenting near a buddies fishing spot by a creek between two fields. I swear there was a swarm of crickets or something. It was kind of cool for a few minutes, but it eventually wore on me and I couldn't sleep that night, felt like it's all I could hear and concentrate on and thought I was going to lose my mind!! Hearing hundreds of knives being repeatedly flicked by a bunch of people at once...yep, me and in a room full of sharp objects with that going could possibly end badly :zany

Back on topic though, lets see some more of these hauls!! Also wouldn't mind seeing some of the defects that made these knives seconds!

Driveby posting of my haul (minus the Knifejoy-exclusive Damascus Endura). It was a good sale. Arrived at about 3:15pm, got in the door at about 4:45. Stayed until they flashed the lights and told us it was the 30-minute warning. I was to the point of paring down what I was buying at that point anyway.

I love that they continually set out new boxes of stuff throughout the day. I just don't have time in my life to wait for 3 hours to get in, 90 minutes is bad enough. Came away with WAY more than I had planned to buy. Almost everything was a sprint or exclusive. Love that I found a satin Yojumbo! Pretty sure the only thing making it a 2nd is a very small scratch on the back of the blade. I can certainly live with that! :cheap-sunglasses :beaming-face Can't believe I got 6 PM2's, and put several others back. :thinking

Would have loved a St. NIck's M4 Shaman, that's about the only thing I couldn't find (besides an arctic PM2, but I was told those won't be available for the seconds sale until next year). Awesome that this happened this year! :bug-red :usflag :respect Thank you to ALL the Spyderco employees who made this happen! :smiling-heart-eyes

Anyone happen to score a Watu or Kapara. I struck out on those. I did find a Canis which I had always been curious about. I have no idea what made it a second. All the knives I bought were flawless as far as I could tell. I did see some with flaws but most were hard to notice. The quality is extremely high for seconds.

Huge THANK YOU to the Spyderco crew for their effort to make this year's sale a good one! This was yet another incredible seconds sale all around. It was good to catch up with many of the regulars prior to the sale and a pleasure to meet so many new people.

(Short clip of what it's like during the sale)

All in all, it was a great experience from start to finish. Spyderco really goes above an beyond to make this sale special and it becomes more obvious when you get to experience it for yourself. I had a great time hanging out with everyone before the sale and am already looking forward to doing it again next year. :bug-red

Thanks again for everything this week Fuji! I got all my stuff shipped out yesterday, so I'm all set. Now it's a waiting game!

Great haul! See you again next year.

...This is my haul. Lot’s of presents for the holidays!
I don't remember if I ever got to actually introduce myself but it was good to chat for a little bit before the sale. Great haul!

Didn't get to catch up after the sale started but it was good to see you and Chris again. Looks like you did great at the sale this year yourself and are definitely going to make those six others very happy! See you next year, Jack.

I cannot begin to explain how much fun it was this week. Hanging out with everyone from the forum, going out for pizza, sharpening sessions, oversized jenga competitions, cornhole competitions, bs’ing by the fire, walking the showroom, telling stories of how we got into Spyderco, the crew coming out and hanging out with us randomly throughout the day.
The knives were a second thought for me on this trip. It ended up being all about the friendships that I made this week. These are people that I really clicked with right out the gate and plan to talk with regularly from here on out. Thanks you all for everything!!

If any of you guys use other social media my Facebook is (Rich Cox) and my Instagram is (Candyman2891). Please reach out!

Very well said! The camaraderie before the sale is a huge part of what makes traveling to Colorado for this sale worth it.

It was great to finally meet you Rich! And thanks again for the gummy worms! I had to ship them home with my knives because they would have put my checked bag overweight! :winking-tongue (Rich hooked me up with a 5 pound bag of Albanese sour gummy worms for being first in line. They're delicious by the way!) Hopefully I'll see you out there again next year!

All that said, here is my personal haul from this year!

Image

This doesn't include the entire generous bag of swag I received from Spyderco for being first in line!!! (It is identical to what "Toxophilus" showed save for the engraving on the Spyder) I had to get everything packaged and ready to ship home soon after the sale and forgot to take pictures of it all.

(This bug is 1 of 1 and the first of it's kind!!! I'll cherish this bug like a trophy! :party-face :cheap-sunglasses)

This was easily one of the best sales I've attended yet. The selection was abundant and there was no shortage of great deals to be had. Thanks again to Spyderco for yet another amazing experience!

I ran by the SFO today to get a couple of new knives I couldn’t find seconds of at the sale.

I told the crew I stopped by to be first in line for next year. :zany

I think that next year, i'll try to find a proxy buyer that accepts to ship to EU, and ill pay any tax! It would be the only way for me to get my hands on native 5 and Chief exclusives !

When it was all said and done, i figured out that half of what I spent was proxy for other people. That's what I get for fronting the money, I could have had a bunch more knives that I don't need. Instead, I'm stuck with getting half my money back. Ain't that terrible?

No, I'm not complaining at all, I was and am happy to be able to help others share in the bounty, and I did volunteer. But I think I need to scale it back in the future, I about fried my alleged brain trying to keep seven lists straight.

The seconds sale is amazing but also a slippery slope. I think I spent $1400 at the first one I went to. Yikes!

My receipt for this one was $1821.00, and I had at least that much more in the basket I sent back to the tables.
