…and say this just may be the finest knife Spyderco has ever produced, prove me wrong!

It’s been talked about here many times before about opening up a custom shop, whether or not it would be profitable and it may be more than Sal and crew would want to deal with, obviously they know what works best for them and their business model.

But, if they ever decided to look into it, I think the Manix 2 would make the perfect beta test model to try it out on! Two steel selections, a tool steel and a stainless, and a selection of 4 or 5 different colored G-10 scales to go along with their standard black.

Just thinking out loud, I honestly just wanted to show off this perfect folding knife!

Define "finest"?


There are some Kiwis and Kopas that surely rank way up there on the fancy scale.

Fit and finish wise, I think possibly the best that I've personally owned may be my Southard. That knife truly is a work of art, and I say that as subjectively as I can, it's less about how much I like it, the thing is just flawless.

However, if you had a top 10 Pocket Knives in History, I would sure hope the Manix 2 would be on there.

Let’s see, an American made folder at a price point that rivals knives two or three times more expensive! Great materials, innovative lock, action slick as glass, locked in ergonomics, and cuts like a beast! This particular Manix checks a lot of boxes for me, all around great knife!

As I said, it was just an excuse to post a pic, who doesn’t like pics? I’ve personally never owned a Kiwi or Kopa, but trust me I’ve seen enough of Deacon’s beautiful knives to absolutely agree with you!

I don't own a wide variety of Spyderco folders, so I really cannot say what the best of the bunch is but I'm loving the 6 - Native Chiefs that I have.

Yep. Fit and finish on the Kapara is above anything else I own. It's a masterpiece in quality.

The Manix isn’t my favorite model but of the ones I have I carry the Cruwear model the most. I like the checkered g10.

Yeah, I think the fluted titanium models really are the premier flagship Spyderco models, it's a shame more versions weren't made. I know there have been technically higher end models like the Nirvana but I feel like the fluted titanium Military and Native 5 are in a class of their own.

As much as I praise the watu, the manix is one of the best all around-ers in the lineup. It’s one of the only models I’d be comfortable using in really any scenario, my mystic Manix lw is a gem in my collection.

I can't prove you wrong, it is one of my 2 favorites. As you can see when you suggest one particular model to receive special treatment, you will get anybody and everybody suggesting their favorite models. People will even suggest obscure models that I would guess account for a very small amount of Spyderco sales. This has happened when people suggest ideas for sprints or exclusives, ideas for a forum knife, etc. I will suggest that the PM2 is the most universally liked Spyderco model.

Beyond all that discussion, I think a custom shop would be a good idea. I've always said that the most popular models should be available from the factory in a variety of steels- standard stainless, salt stainless (I don't know what to call it), high performance stainless steel, and high performance carbon tool steel.

I agree though, the Manix is a great platform. Especially if the ergos and lock work for you. So happy their both my favorite!

the manix is my favorite knife so far. i need to pick up a g10 version.
