In search for a reverse knife

#1

Post by Jim Malone »

I have been bitten by the RGEI bug lately. Been looking for a Spyderco reverse knife for a while. Followed the whole development of the Southnarc Clinch Pick in the 90's and trained in FMA Sayoc Kali. So i have been looking for some knives. Got a bastinelli anomaly, a tactical fruit knife, and i'm waiting on a TOPS unzipper. But the reverse is missing in my collection. Does anyone know where i can find one?

Are you a member of Bladeforums? You can post a want-to-buy or want-to-trade post and I would guess you would get a few offers. You can do the same on the Spyderco Swap, if you haven't already.

I don't have a line on the Spyderco Reverse. But I do know of some other reverse edge fixed blade makers. JB knife and tool, kahless custom metal works, kopis designs, tracker dan knives, kramer custom knives.
If you're looking for a folder you can get on the waitlist for the next batch of Elvias from Emerson, or if money is no object you can get a Rick Lala custom Elvia.

Hopefully Spyderco will be able to make some more Reverse and P'kals next year.

The reverse was discontinued a few years back and likely will be hard to come by. It’s not a mode I’ve seen lots of for sale on the secondary market. Shivworks now has a new production model Disciple that is a similar size knife. I haven’t handled one yet. I like P’kal knives and will probably get a disciple at some point. If I didn’t have anything that size already it would be one of the knives I’d consider as a starting point.

It rarely shows up on ebay. Would love to see it reintroduced, preferably with the shorter handle it is capable of having. Or optional long and short handles, the short handle offers a sorts of unigue carrying abilities. But that is probably asking a lot of a model that was discoed, presumably because it sold poorly. Although if you gauge by the second hand market, there are a lot of models that were discoed that are now in very high demand. Something for Sal to consider?
