Hey Jurphaas,
I am brand new here but when you said "You can almost ask any price..." if I told you I had 1 of each model with certificates of authenticity, in reality, if I sold them as a set, what could I get out of them?
Welcome to the forum and very cool that your first deed was to revive this old-old thread! :smlling-eyes
Some beautiful Spydies to see here of which I was not aware at all.

/ I can see that Jurphaas ist still active on this forum and does post occasionally - so perhaps you´ll get a reply, don´t know.

/ This is how you can post (larger) pics (since you asked in your second post):

I figured there are 3 of them, if they're all in excellent condition it wouldn't be unrealistic to see them each individually fetching +/-$500 so +/-$1500 for the set isn't crazy, but like most things you also need a very motivated buyer.

Actually, a complete set would be four knives:

The Spyderkey is the rarest, and probably the most valuable single piece. By itself it might fetch over $500 but, unless things have changed drastically in the last ten years, it's probably the only one that would. Up until then at least, with only one exception, none of the older Spydercos "embellished" by David Yellowhorse, Gary Blanchard, and Santa Fe Stoneworks commanded prices much above what they sold for originally. That exception was the SFSW Dino Bone Executive, but that was probably because it had the distinction of being something commissioned by Sal and presented as gifts to Spyderco employees, rather than just being something Spyderco sold.

That said, a complete set would almost certainly be worth more than the individual knives to someone, just a question of how much more and finding the right someone. And, to be fair, I could also be 100% wrong. I stopped following eBay auction prices and other sales venues some years ago, so the market could have changed drastically.

Hello Clayton/Modoc, great to suddenly see this old post of mine being pulled up from the past. This David Yellow Horse series is very special as it has been Spyderco to initiate collaboration models with popular custom makers in it's early days. The value of these to collectors now adays can be quite substantional, knowing that these have been produced over 25 years ago in small numbers and in Japan makes them very desirable to serious collectors. There will be nomore of these as the original number that were produced at that time. No second production runs and no special runs. The majority of these are part of collections which has made them dissapear from the market quikly. These Spyderco David Yellow Horse Collaboration models are as rare as flying mice and could archive prices as high as three to five times their original price. Or even more as there are none on the market and no more will ever be produced. Just my cents woth. Still nice to see this old post of mine....;-)
