Are all new s45vn para 3 stonewashed?
Are all new s45vn para 3 stonewashed?
I’ve noticed that most of these new qci para 3’s have a really nice kind of mirror stonewash finish. Is this true for all of them or are some still satin? Can’t tell if there’s an sku difference either if they are separate models. It appears the para 2 is still satin. I LOVE the new stonewash look, very classy and beautiful.

I have no idea, but I'd love to see this! Do you have any pictures?
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Re: Are all new s45vn para 3 stonewashed?
I have a few production model para 3s and many sprint run/exclusive para 3s. It seems like the some models get stonewashed/tumbled, like on my camo para 3 in s30v, brown g10 s35vn, and para 3 lw in cts bd1n (although this finish looks more bead blasted than tumbled). All my other models have a belt satin finish.
I've taken some photos of the older models, I'd love to see one of the newer S45VN models to compare!
First, a standard "satin" model, distinguishable by the vertical lines on the blade left by the grinding belt:

S30V Digi Camo Model:

Maxamet Model (not sure if it's discolored from the patina or the coat of edci I put on it):

As you can see this one has a much rougher texture than the s30v model, not sure if its because of corrosion or if there is just variation on the finish. The CTS XHP Shaman also has a finish similar to this.
S35VN Brown G10 Model (Interestingly the only exclusive para 3 to come with this finish that I know of):

LW model in CTS BD1N (Finish looks a lot different from the G10 models):

Does anyone else have any more examples to add?

Looks like many different kinds of finishes hmm.
The stonewash ones you posted look almost like a duller finish compared to the more mirror stonewash in the pictures i posted.

I just always assumed that the surface finish differences were due to the steel variations. But we all know what happens when we assume.

Re: Are all new s45vn para 3 stonewashed?
The S45VN model looks a lot more "mirrored" than the other models I've previously posted.
FWIW here's an older Positron with S30v steel that is a lot closer to the "mirror" stonewash finish that the S45VN model seems to have, and like the one that can be seen on the Slycz Bowie on various Youtuber's videos. Apologies for the focus and dirty desktop, but you can see it's a lot more reflective than the other models I posted previously.

Maybe the Taichung factory has a special method of stonewashing that the Golden factory recently adopted? Maybe S45VN finishes a lot closer to S30V? Perhaps, but that wouldn't explain the finish on S35VN. Could be a lot of factors.
