Crucarta PM2 master thread

#1

Post by bleasure »

I don't have any news or new info to offer of my own, but I'm done, done I say! searching through 40 other rando threads on two sites and cobbling together what I can. Hopefully this one will serve as a single repository for info, and/or site for discourse once they release. So far, newest news seems to be via RamZar that some site had an estimated in-stock date of yesterday, Aug 30th. I'd wager that estimation were wrong, from the looks o things. I'd welcome any further updates!

Good idea to create this master thread.

The only news I have to contribute; when this knife was announced, the website I get my gear from put up a “Coming Soon” page for it with a write-up, specs, and price. I checked again yesterday and the price had jumped by $50. Not super stoked on that. I think I’m just going to hold off for the Stretch XL at this point…

The prediction of availability on German market seems to have shifted from September to October.

Same, possibly the same website? I'm really hoping to make this my next knife

This thread should be part of this new "Master" thread....

Thanks for making this thread. I’m also tired of digging through countless threads & pages for the past couple months trying to find an update on these.

Hopefully we hear something definitive soon.

I have zero knives in Cruwear, but have some micarta scales on a few PM2s as well as other fixed blades. I like it for handle/scale material and will likely grab one of these if I happen to be available when they drop.

I've been interested in trying out the Cruwear as I really like 52100 and M4 so this sounds like a good balance of some of the best properties of these steels.

That dealer which had previously estimated an in stock date of 8.30.2021 now says "Coming Soon - Estimated In-Stock: Overdue". Hopefully, it will get to dealers very soon and in substantial quantities.

Great to have a singular thread for this anticipated PM2, thanks. Still on the fence with this one since I already have Cruwear PM2/3 and whatnot, but I may get one down the line just for the novelty of having full liners.

I did not know of any price increase; what site is that and how much is the current projected price?

Warriors and Wonders, based in Canada. Current price is $269.99 CAD, which works out to roughly $215 USD.

I subscribed when they first appeared on the site. I think they were under $210 CAD at the time. I hadn't looked back until this thread. Ugh. I think I will stick with my current players for now.

Exactly my thoughts. I even took a screenshot on my phone when W&W first posted the “coming soon” page. At the time I thought “that’s a great price for what will probably be an awesome knife”. I’m kinda sour about it now..

I'm fairly certain at this point that the Crucarta PM2 will be my next Spyderco. I've got three Spydies wearing Micarta (Para 3, Shaman, Stretch), and the Shaman has the nicest finish straight from the factory - the aftermarket stuff just isn't quite as good. Can't wait for it!
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I've got to agree, been carrying my Cruwear Shaman all this week and if the scales are the same on the PM2 as those scales...people are in for a real treat, especially if they don't baby the knife and give it some use. That micarta is wonderful once worn in!

I talked to the peeps at the SFO today and they've seen neither hide nor hair of the PM 2 Cruwear/Micarta knives yet. (and they're made about 200 feet away from them) ;)
