To be clear: The fine tip of the SS Stretch is very useful in many "tip - tasks" and I did not want to imply it is actually "weak".+
I also agree with your definition of hard use. The only case where I really want a stouter tip is when having ti work "hard" AND fast, so there is no time to be a bit careful and there is a good chance of hitting metal or other hard materials that could snap a tip.

Index finger on spydie hole while thumb disengages lock, that’s my prefered one hand opening. It’s controlled for the entire motion.

For my the Native Chief in XHP might be my Manix LW killer. I actually really love BD1N, but the Chief just carries nicer because it's so much less "tall" in the pocket.

Wait until you see the stretch 2 XL!! It is even more comfortable and to me it feels like a much more natural size for the Stretch design. I am not one of those guys that prefers the larger version of every design but I feel like the stretch XL is an improvement in every way. As far as size, it’s kind of in between a pm2 and a Millie. For me it’s like a backlock pm2 with a roomier grip!

Anyway: For me (and from my measurements this IS objectively true) the current Stretch 2 already HAS a roomier grip than the PM 2??... not really longer overall, but noticeable more actual grip area (due to the different designs of the handle butt ends of PM2 and Stretch 2)

Posted it above: I´d favor that the current Stretch 2 just got the shorter choil of the "1" and a longer blade (which would give it roughly an Endura cutting edge in the existing handle)

But what do I know: Probably the Stretch XL will still blow me away when I get to see it..

Yeah, I think we already discussed it. All I know is I got to handle the Stretch XL at Blade and I loved it. I don’t even know if its the “roominess” or the actual size, it just fit great in my hand and felt just right. For me the handle was better than the current stretch, better than the pm2 and better than the Millie. Some kind of perfect blend between all three. I don’t even know if its the “roominess” or the actual size so much…it just fit great in my hand and felt just right. For the record, I think I like the handle on the original Stretch better than the Stretch 2 so my observations about size and space might be more subjective than objective. I know one thing for sure…I’ll definitely be getting a Stretch XL and I have a feeling it will get a LOT of pocket time. It was by far my favorite new design in the prototype case!

Hope they make a Salt version soon!!!!!

Got my K390 Endela in this afternoon, Manix 2 LW killer…..we’ll see? Came super sharp, blade is perfectly centered, and I absolutely love this blue!

Of course I haven’t used it yet, but I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite from this foursome! Anyway, here’s some handle comparisons.

I have been stoked about this knife since Sal first started talking about it. I think it will solve all of my minor complaints about all of the other folders in this size range. I doubt it, but I would love to see this come out by Christmas.

Received my Stretch today from DLT. Very happy with it! Smooth, even quick action, nice even grind, and best of all I’ve got another 3.5” piece of K390 to play with. ;-)





The Stretch really does feel like it was made just for me. I’ll take the slight increase in weight and pocket real estate over something like the Manix or Endela any day.

I do wish they came with a Satin clip - the black just looks out of place to me. In this case, I think I’ll hold out for a Lynch NW clip when I get my Micarta scales.

I will say that the Stretch did not kick the Shaman out of my pocket today - I think I just like Micarta that much.
