Just got mine in the mail, feels and looks good, although this is the first spyderco out of the box where I though, hrrm I might need to tighten the pivot a bit (bounces on close).

I don’t know if anyone has read their paperwork that came with their smock but I thought this was interesting.

“A truly remarkable rendition of one of Spyderco’s most dynamic models, this exclusive Smock folder is available in two versions: one with a satin-finished blade and matching handle hardware and one with a black Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) coated blade and black-coated handle hardware and clip. I think this pretty much confirms a future DLC version.

I don't see any of the Blade HQ Smocks on eBay yet. Usually the flippers will have them listed there as soon as they finish the purchase.

There is a DLT one for $468!

Several up for $300-350 as of at least last night

Well hopefully the fact there's a second one in black DLC coming too will dissuade sales.

I would think the DLC one will be even more difficult to get, as there are tons of comments about waiting for/hoping for/demanding a DLC version.

Mike, are all the coated blades coming out of the Taichung plant TiCN?

Dear Henry_P and Sharp Guy:

The answer to both of your questions is yes.

Although I've explained this previously, to ensure that there's no confusion, here is a quick guide to our blade coatings as they relate to country of manufacture:

DLC - US-made products only
TiCN - Most of our Japanese-made knives with blade coatings and all our black-bladed knives made in Taiwan
Ceramic - This coating is only used on the Perrin Street Bowie and Street Beat Lightweight, both made in Japan
Black Oxide - All our Chinese-made knives

I have never read the paperwork in a SpyderCo knife box...I wonder what else I have missed :)

Mine arrived this morning. The 2nd detent and lanyard tube were just removed and a Lynch clip and some Gunny Glide have been added. It's darn near perfect. Thanks to all that made this run happen.

I could be wrong, but most likely it just eliminates a rattle sound that Taichung layard tubes are known for. I don't think they flare them at all. I usually just put a dab of grease or locktite to stop it. But like I said, I could be wrong, and there may be another benefit I am unaware of.

I tore down my first Smock enough times that I just quit putting the lanyard tube back in.

mine showed up on monday, jumped in my pocket and has been with me since.
don’t know how i got the super fast delivery - i went for the free first class shipping, nice work USPS.
i miss the days of havin a knife store locally, so i end up watching all the videos and reading the fourms and sometimes ya end up forming an opinion before you can check the thing out.
wow, the Smock really exceeded my expectations - i had concerns about its handle shape and blade ‘choil’ because of my XL hands - this is definitely a model to check out.
mine came super sharp! goes thru plastic like a hot knife thru butter - and the slim carry makes my pm2 feel like a total pocket hog - lol (pm2 has been my primary carry for years - was my first spyderco and the beginning of the addiction.)
this Smock is a keeper and a user.
random observation - for some mysterious reason it doesn’t disturb the knife phobic folks….

I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The action is amazing, centering is perfect, and I think it looks fantastic. :)
