To be completely frank... I was very, very stoked for this release and I avoided bumping this thread (and others) because I'm getting a little sick of fighting it out with all the moralless flippers every time a nice exclusive/sprint is released. I figured if people weren't talking it up, the flippers wouldn't know how in demand it would be and the people who were actually interested in the knife might have a better shot.

I was lucky enough to get an order in and I'm pretty darn excited.

I have a set of stonewashed Reylight titanium "Frag" scales, a stonewashed REK titanium clip, and a full set of blue titanium hardware (screws, pivot, lanyard tube, standoffs, lock button) just waiting for this bad boy! :D

Well played, mum's the word.

Edit to add: I messed up my s30v Smock pretty much from the day it arrived and got a ti scale stuck on one side of mine, still works, but the lower weight of non-ti scales makes the Smock better imo. Anyway, any non-s30v Smock was top of the list since that mishap last year. Also kind of surprised there haven't been more Smocks.

Fixall sir I completely agree with you I too am really excited to get one of these I have buying a lot of knives trying to find the right one for me. I have over a dozen Spydercos now and still have not found the right one. So I am hoping this one will be it.
I have only held a Smock for a few minutes when looking for a different Spyderco...so I did not really pay attention to it. I am learning what I like which are flippers and liner locks. I have also learned about being right on top if you want a Exclusive knife. The natural scales will be dyed Blue if this knife is the one or if not it might get sold.

What is the quality like on those Reylight scales? They look pretty nice, but I have not seen anything on them.

How did you manage to get a Ti scale stuck? Is it the Reylight frag scale?

It's the Flytanium ones and totally my error. It was my second scale swap with the Shaman being the first, and the Shaman is pretty user friendly for taking apart. I just got a little ahead of myself and pushed the stop pin into the ti scale too far, and before you know it I had pliers, sandpaper, and then a whole project to try to make it right. Ends up the best solution is to put a tiny shim between the liner and ti scale so nothing rubs. It turned out a little more elegant than it sounds, and the knife works as it should except it will always have a ti show side.

Fit and finish seems solid, but I haven't had a chance to install them on a Smock yet, so I'm not sure about fitment. I'll be sure to post again when the Smock comes in. The scales look to be the same quality as the Flytanium scales, if you have any experience with those. In fact, they seem nearly identical.

The REK clips are nice. Got one on my Ti Wharndelica, and one on my 20CV Smock.

I agree. For Spyderco knives I prefer them over any other third party clip on the market. I also have one on my Delica Wharncliffe. Josh was even nice enough to put a custom finish on it so it would match the Flytanium scales. :D

Thanks. :)

It probably had a HAP40 blade last you saw. The Damasteel is pretty new.

I think dealers should coordinate and do drops at the same time so if you miss one you can try another.
I like this idea in principle. This was a BHQ exclusive sprint, though, rather than a sprint or distributor exclusive.

Do you mean have multiple different knives go on sale at the same time? I like the idea very much though more sophisticated flippers can easily compensate between scripts and paid help.

Thanks. Looking forward to seeing how those fit. From the pictures they looked alot like the Flytaniums and they are both from China so I figured they would be similar.

This was the roughest exclusive sale I have personally been involved in. I get the sense that the flippers hit it hard. Anyone confirm whether there was a 2 knife limit? Anecdotally Inheard multiple people suggest that only 2 knoves were allowed at some point, before the sellout.

It took me about 18 minutes to buy, I ended up with 2 because it was flaky and I couldn't drop it to 1 after dozens of tries but I could get it to push 2 through. Will either leave one be and mod the other one (some interesting scales and I have skiff bearings coming, also maybe a fancy or low rider clip) or maybe only keep and mod one though I think the second one already has a possible second home if I don't keep it (Kristi, I'm trying to stay on the good side of the rules here, I am explicitly NOT offering one for sale, just mentioning the situation, but if this is sketchy by the rules, tell me and I'll cut it).

There have been loads of PM2 sprints over the past couple of years. Shamans seem to be similar in that way, hard to even buy standard models, though eventually an equilibrium will be reached. The smock had modest enthusiasm but has a reputation for being a great sharpened fidget toy (no offense, I think it is a brilliant and unique design but people with expendable income who like more "fidgety" knoves really dig it. I'm middle of the road but love playing with mine too).

For people that would still like a short run PM2, the KnifeJoy PM2 with lime green scales and DLC 20CV blade is still up after a few days. Maybe people have had enough 20CV (I have picked up a lot of those and S35VN this past year), but if this is what you're into, grab it! I bought the ODG DLC S90V para 2 sprint recently or I'd be more interested, as I would be with a new or odd steel (these exlusives are very cool IMO and leave tons of options besides the controversy that not everyone can own them) but I wanted the Smock a lot more after having and messing with my standard one.

We're alive during the best time ever for custom and unique knives and are blessed to be able to collect and use these designand engineering marvels.

I don't see any of the Blade HQ Smocks on eBay yet. Usually the flippers will have them listed there as soon as they finish the purchase.

There is a DLT one for $468!

My shipping update today says it will be here Tuesday.
My 4th BHQ M4 release, my first Smock and probably the most anticipated delivery for a Spydie.
