Best SE knife with wave opening

#1

Post by chemcal »

More and more I'm liking fully serrated knives. What is a good one with with a wave?

I think currently the matriarch is the only option for that.

They used to have other choices. If you find a non-matriarch waved se spyderco, buy it.
Then sell it to David for a huge markup.

I would be more interested in a non-matriarch type of knife.

Pretty sure VooDoo is correct about the Matriarch. All of the Spydercos with Emerson opener that I'm aware of (except for the Matriarch) are saber-ground, PE.

There is an add-on called the Pickpocket Exo-ccessory™ that fits many models of Spydercos. It would add the wave feature to models that do not have it. It might be of interest. A quick web search will get you to the site.

I've been trying to find a SE/waved Endura but they're either impossible to find or insanely over priced when you do. I would love to see a waved SE Pacific.

the matriarch 2 should be an h1 salt model.

I've thought about it but I actually really like the bayonet shaped blade that the Endura gets with the wave. I actually want it as much for that reason as I do the actual wave part.

Well if I feel up to it after kayaking I'll start working on it tonight.

The waved endura is VERY underrated. One of my favorite Spydies to gift to people who've only ever carried gas station knives. My buddy has absolutely abused that knife. Used it as a scraper, pry bar, screwdriver, it has been rode hard and put away wet. A little rust on the liners, a lot of scratches, a few notches in the blade, but it keeps on trucking. Only complaint is that one of the clip screws fell out, and the lock pivot screw worked itself loose.

"The waved endura is VERY underrated"

Yes, I've seen much criticism of this knife in online reviews. Is there a good objective review to read?

The waved Endura is indeed a very capable knife. As far as I know, it is still the carry knife of choice of many members of the 10th Special Forces Group. I gifted one to a friend of mine who is a long-time Paris policeman. Recently he was attacked while off duty by two larger, stronger guys. He was able to deploy that knife while one held him from behind and the other beat him. He credits it with saving his life.

BTW, the Endura Pickpockets from 5x5 Combat Solutions fit the Pacific Salts.

Stay safe,

Does Spyderco make a waved endura with a full serrated edge?

They did but it was discontinued something like 10 years ago and hasn't come back despite at least some reasonable interest in it.

If all goes well I'll do a SE too.

Curious to see how much weight this sheds.

There was a Rescue 93mm that had the wave too.
I imagine for use with emergency responders and Coastguard.
This seems like a very astute use of the wave before the Autonomy was available.

Somehow I forgot these came in saber grind. This may be my ticket to getting what I'm looking for and it'll even be a Salt. Let me know how it waves.
