What Will Be The First Magnacut Model?

The steel is just potential. and OK steel can be great via a good heat treat and a great steel can be just OK by a bad heat treat depending on what you want out of a steel. What I would like to see is a heat treat triangle. Show the hardness, the toughness and edge holding. Overlap that with the potential of the steel. People can think they are getting the max qualities out of the steel but they are getting a compromise of hardness or toughness etcetera. The corrosion resistance will be the same, but that can be quantified and ranked also.

That or a Para2 makes the most sense. I've been a fan of CPM steels for years and I'm sure this one will be really decent.

As far as introduction with Spyderco, I'd druther begin with a bunch of Mule Teams so we can get them out to ELU's. And Larrin, Please make sure we your optimal heat treat. It will be Eric's call on models. We did order quite a bit of steel. For me, I think a Para 2 or 3 and a Shaman.

Many steel freaks are waiting on baited breath, to see what the final / best treatment will be

Hats off to Larrin for coming up with the theory and seeing it through to an actual steel (read the full article). I’m most surprised by its corrosion resistance beating 20CV — a tool steel with excellent corrosion resistance — what more can one ask for! Hope you get your just rewards.

Hats off to Spyderco for buying a bunch of MagnaCut.
