Can I carry my knife into Bladeshow ATL 2021

#1

Post by Agreycat »

Hi everyone,
This is my first post that's not a reply. I was wondering if knives can be carried into the Bladeshow venue this year. It sounds like a crazy question but I found this on the Bladeshow website FAQ: "Knives are only allowed in if an attendee will be showing it to an exhibitor, and you must disclose that information up front. No weapons may be carried in concealed." Since this is my first Bladeshow, I'd like to avoid the long walk back to the car.

Thanks

I've never had any trouble.

Never been asked, checked or frisked(thank goodness!).

I lived in Chicago once and went to Chinatown for something to eat. I went down an alley and 2 police squads rolled in behind me and asked me to stop.

THEY PAT ME DOWN FOR NO REASON! Never happened before in my life.

I thought that only happened in NY? In any case, I had a little folder on me and that was it. I don't do drugs, so that could not be it. There is nothing that you can do about it, so if it ever happens just relax.

The FAQs now say: "You may bring one knife in as an EDC as long as that knife is concealed."

I've been to Blade Show 17 of the last 19 years. While the venue has always had a "no weapons" policy, the vast majority of people attending the show openly carry knives. What's more, there are literally hundreds of vendors selling knives. After the initial opening moments of the show, how would security be able to differentiate between "knives carried in" and knives purchased?

Is that a common requirement for a knife show?

In 20 years of attending knife shows, I have never seen any restriction on knives carried into the show.

Never any issues here. I’m thinking a folder in every pocket, at least three fixed blades on my belt and more attached to or in my pack. I mean if Blade Show isn’t an excuse to carry whatever you like then I’m obviously confused.

Seriously though I had the same concerns for my first trip a few years ago, but just waiting in line I realized I was among friends.

I've been to Blade several times, never noticed any restriction like this. Lots of open carry of knives, swords, giant fixed blades, etc etc. The employees don't seem to care other than verifying wristband and making sure you don't enter through the exit door or smoke by the entrances. I'll be there Friday so I guess we'll find out then.

Seems like a slightly ridiculous and utterly unenforceable policy, especially for a knife show.

Hey, thanks for all the great answers! I had no problem carrying into Blade Show. I had a blast and even got to meet Eric and talk to him for quite a while. He was very cool and answered all my questions.
