I need to grab the stretch 2 in ZDP. I wonder what Rockstead is going to do if Hitachi discontinues ZDP. Perhaps they order a 20 year supply.

Very true words, Sal. I guess I’m sentimental about ZDP-189. My first Spyderco knife was a ZDP Delica, a gift from my late father.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for what the replacement is. Hopefully Hitachi has something else that works very well. It would be nice to step forward rather than sideways or backwards.

Cowry X is an analog of ZDP-189. I wonder if we will see more of this unique steel if ZDP-189 stops production. Not sure if Cowry X is even produced. The distinct quality of not needing diamond stones to cut the carbide make ZDP-189 so unique for such a high carbide steel.
