Absolutely! I am always amazed. Best of luck to your son Ladybug, and thank you Sal for all you do here!

Re: that sal is a stand up guy
Hope your son's ok. My son broke his arm the same way when he was 2. (4 years later, I have a good reason to ask him not to jump on the bed or couch). He's just fine now. Cast was on for 7 weeks, and he's good as new. Hopefully your son will have the same experience.
As for the gift, that is an awesome thing Sal and Spyderco did for you all. I have always liked Spyderco knives, since I was 17 (now 45) and am just getting into buying some, and it's things like this, that 1) give you hope for human kind and 2) make you want to support a company, that seems to really care about it's customers.

Re: that sal is a stand up guy
I've also been on the receiving end of the generosity from Sal and Spyderco! Just last year I had my image selected for this years forum calendar. I was so excited and honored for the selection...but for some reason my specs/parameters didn't quite work. After multiple messages from Kristi and attempts to alter the image, they just couldn't get it to work and someone else was selected for the month of October. To my surprise, they still sent me a Watu anyways!! Just like every other calendar selection received, even though my image ended up being disqualified. That knife now has great sentimental value to me! (as well as some beautiful Figured Koa wood scales) :)
I'm hoping to make things come full circle and have an image of that knife possibly selected for the 2022 calendar!

There is no place like SPYDERVILLE  . I'm a member of 8 forums for a wide range of companies and special interest>> but I've never encountered any place on the web like SPYDERVILLE.
Not to mention their quality is as good as it gets. Quality hardware and tools made by quality people.

Re: that sal is a stand up guy
That Sal fella has a history of being guilty of this sort of thing. I remember years ago a guy's son was attacked by a mountain lion and he defended his son with his Caly 3 (if I remember right) and Sal did something similar.

Re: that sal is a stand up guy
oh my goodness. i've camped there at chisos mountain and it's the only place i've ever seen a mountain lion in the wild. i was driving in to the park and i saw what i thought was a deer in the road. then i realized it was a big cat by the way it was moving. it made me think hard about if i really wanted to be camping there for the next couple of nights. beautiful place though.Evil D wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 5:46 am

Re: that sal is a stand up guy
Wow...just wow...this act of kindness and generosity from Mr. Glesser is impressive to say the least. I recently joined the forum to learn more about Spyderco knives and have since bought a Native 5 LW and even more recently a Dragonfly 2. Both are fantastic knives. As I cruise around the Forum and Spyderco-related web places, I’m coming to the conclusion that Sal Glesser and Spyderco as a whole are the kind of company I like to keep.
I hope I’m the man my dog thinks I am.
Re: that sal is a stand up guy
update time!
it's been a little over a year since my son broke his arm. he's all healed up and even had his second surgery to get hardware removed. he's back at his activities and is growing less and less timid about his arm. he's been working at our church helping with childcare to earn a little spending money and was excited to make his first big purchase last week.

he's carried and used his gifted delica since he got it, but it started developing some light spotting recently, so he wanted something else to carry as a user that is replaceable. as a big fan of spyderco and dude perfect, this upgraded delica seemed like a natural fit for him. the collection has begun.
thanks again to sal for being a cool dude and to the rest of the community for your prayers and well-wishes.
side note: i suppose i should start thinking about what i post here from the perspective that my son is going to be around here in a few years reading all my old posts. he's already a spydienut.

Hadn't seen this yet. Lovely story. Proud to support this brand every single time. One wonders, where do the lines of respect and function meet? Well, it seems with Spyderco.
