Well, I am oldschool, don´t use a gps.. so I have no idea how many miles or kilometers..

Running for me always means that a large part is mountain / uphill (and of course downhill) running, I am just not made for running on flat land for too long, and my watch counts the time and vertical distances I cover:

Today it was around 3,5 hours (including 15 minutes break for looking down at the lights of the city, having a snack and of course taking the pic for the forum! ) and around 1100 meters (3600 feet) of total vertical distance.

Admiration. Really impressive. And here I thought my 50 minutes daily exercise was a lot.

I'm amazed that little Petzl will give you enough light for such a long run. I'd have thought you'd need an 18650 based light.

I would imagine the Chap to be about ideal for this type of exertion (although an FRN Caly Jr would also work well). For what do you use the knife, on a run like this?

Thanks, folks, but to be clear: This is not running in some competition mode or really always at the limit, in fact if one happens to be used to a lot of mountaineering,skitouring and so on, that kind of uphill and downhill running is not a lot more strenuous than just fast uphill hiking - as said, running for over three hours with NO vertical differences would be pretty hellish for me, but the mountain part actually makes it easier cause of the downhill sections where one can recover.

@Bolster:

- The tiny Petzl Bindi is a great choice if one already knows the trail or road they are running on, since it has for its size a pretty powerful illumination but really only optimized for close range. You could never use it when moving faster (like on a bike) or if you´d need farther range sight for orientation. It´s also perfect for a secondary/ backup headlamp on really long night-hikes or the like.
And since a lot of that run was on gravel roads I did not need lighting at all, just for having illumination while having a short break and for a faster downhill on a trail
The Bindi will give you 200lm for 2 hours, 100lm for 3 or 6 lm (enough for reading a map or the like) for 50hours, all as said quite optimized for closer range
It only weighs 1.2 oz and is really small (see here https://www.petzl.com/US/en/Sport/ACTIV ... amps/BINDI)

- Chap: Well, I actually rarely ever use it for anything on a run... I just want to have a Spyderco on me, very occasionally I cut some minor food or a shoelace, remove a tick or whittle a stick for fun during a break.
I totally love the Chap as a running knife, in a pack, zippered pocket or iwb. IF need should be, the extremly slicey blade will do its job all the time and it is really small but not too small.
Only thing to consider: If one tends to rust knives easily, the XHP steel might not be the perfect choice.
And real lightweight freaks of course could go lighter with DFly, Ladybug...but the Chap is more than light enough for me.

My new K390 Endela. This is my 2nd Endela after having the VG-10 for the past few months. I've been carrying Seki models 99% of the time for well over a year, and my main EDCs have shifted from the Delica to the Endura to the SSS and now the Endela. I'd be perfectly happy with any of these four if I could only have one blade, but the Endela feels just right at the moment. I would say that 99% of my EDC for 2021 will be a rotation of variants of these 4 models, a Military, the upcoming Z-Wear Shaman, and hopefully the upcoming/rumored Cruwear SSSXL.

I don't have a fancy picture of my Sage 2, but I got my first sharpening compliment yesterday. I loaned my knife to someone for a quick task. When they returned it, they warned me to be careful because it was really sharp. I consider myself to be a mediocre sharpening, but I'll still chalk that up as a win.
