I truely hope that that it works out better than I expect it to. Maybe the people shopping on line will be different than the ones who shop in person, and maybe they will all be patient and understanding when it takes a month to get all the orders shipped. Personally, I start getting cranky when it takes a week for a seller to get around to mailing my purchase.

I wonder how it will work with the in-person vs. online sales? Will being there in person offer any advantages, or will you be waiting in line, in the cold while everyone online is buying the best stuff from the warm comfort of their armchairs as they sip hot, spiced cider while wearing only their underwear?
Now that it has been reaffirmed, I'm wondering this as well. There is obviously an innate advantage to being able look at each knife in person and choose which knife you want to buy but I can't imagine that being the only difference.

I'm guessing there will be very different purchase limits set for the in person sale vs online because there will be many more customers buying from the online sale. Also, since they won't be happening at the same time as each other, those who are attending in person could also purchase through the online sale, only increasing demand. I wonder if the entire "seconds inventory" will even be available during the online sale. Maybe they will only offer a handful of base models to avoid the need to list every single knife individually online.

I'm probably just thinking about it too much. :o Regardless, I'll see you there on the 20th/21st! ;)

Your concerns are warranted and I agree with you. I guess the only thing to do is wait and see at this point.

Spyderco hasn't let me down yet though and I don't expect them to start now. ;)

I'm glad it's happening, it is a great opportunity for a lot of us. It is also up to us to make sure we have realistic expectations, don't make Spyderco regret it, and as such, don't ruin any chance of it ever happening again.

All concerns aside and duly noted, this will be the first time that this will ever be happening, so realistically there will be hiccups and birthing pains associated with an unknown venture. All that the interested customers must understand and take to heart is that, these are seconds, so along with the price comes a decrease in quality. And a waiver is a must signed/noted by the customer being aware of such knowledge and understanding the consequences.

Of course, as it is with anything in life, you can only do so much in letting the end-user thoroughly know what they are getting. There will always be people who will whine and wail despite knowing that these are factory seconds.

You are, of course, absolutely right. I know very many people will be happy, and I hope those that aren't are few and far between. I agree with you on the waiver as well. When purchasing from the seconds sale, the buyer should actively acknowledge that they know they are buying a factory second, and all sales are final. I know there are concerns, and I have been naive more than once before, but I do think this will work out well.

Thank you Kristi! Thank you Spyderco!

It will be a great success. Zero doubts here. Only loosers are our bank accounts. :) But that's still good, the money must go!
