Couldn't decide if in color or just black and white... ;)
Just liked how the lines of the Manix mirror those of the bridge.

Great combo Lumpy! May I ask what color is that Hawkbill? Looks like a rootbeer looking color, I dig it. :)

Thanks! It’s actually a bit more of a deep red/ burgundy color. I used the “Wine” colored Rit dye.

Wow. Don't see many BG42 Millies, period. Much less with custom scales. Very nice looking Military. Those scales look like they're thicker than the stock G10 and feature a little rounding?

Bold prediction: Within the next 365 days I'm going to buy another Military. Every time I see a photo of one posted here I miss carrying one.

You have a good eye. They were made for me about 9 years ago. The maker bartered some custom work in lieu of cash. He was not great at the polish (these were almost bright red when new) but the contouring is terrific and the feel is much more rounded in hand. I snagged this BG-42 second-hand and it was pretty abused. I stripped, cleaned, reprofiled, stonewashed and revived the knife to become one of my favorites. Really wish more knives were offered in this finish.

You did a great job. Knives with personal work put into them always carry a little extra significance. I had a digital camo military at one point. I swapped blades with a CPMD2 sprint, put a stupid thin edge on it, let it get a patina and carried it near daily for 5 years. It got lost or stolen during my move and I haven't seen it since, but that knife always meant more to me than a run of the mill Spydie because I knew there wasn't another one in the entire world quite like it.

In retrospect that was one ugly bevel :D

I remember other pics of your stupid low bevel D2 Millie. Such a shame when sentimental tools get lost/stolen. Let me know if you want a stroll down memory lane. I'll send you the BG-42 to carry and use for a while. It needs more pocket time than I give it. PM me.

I have one of these, but have yet to try it on anything but the Caly family. Never on an FRN knife. I find that they don't have enough width for some work pants (Carhartt, Dickies, Kuhl, Mountain Khakis) I wish the mount stood taller with the same thickness over the pocket hem.
