Z-Wear PM Shaman

#1

Post by TheFrozenCelt »

Hello everyone,

I'm pretty new here so please excuse my ignorance If this post is not allowed.

I was generally curious as to when this Sprint Run will happen? I want this knife so badly it physically hurts. I lost my Paramiltary of 7 years. Even had it during my time deployed. And it was really the only knife I ever used regularly. I just recently purchased the Shaman, my second ever Spyderco knife and I absolutely am in love with it. I'm an airplane mechanic now here in Alaska and I use it for everything! The new Shaman with that Zapp pm z-wear is this Alaskans dream knife haha. I don't really understand how these sprint runs work though and am just curious if a regular person like me can even get my hands on one or is it reserved for more prestigious members of the knife making community? Thanks for reading and again sorry if I have broken any forum rules. Cheers!

This Version of the Shaman with the Cruwear and Micarta is such a good combination of steel and handle material , has made it a highly popular sought after knife .They were made in very limited numbers I heard around 1,250 pieces give or take, that is not a lot for the entire U.S. of buyers for this version. DLT trading will not even sell their remaining ones out right except only through a raffle system. It is a great knife steel combination for a EDC knife and kit or a outdoor field use knife camping and hiking ,fishing , I can see why it is so popular . I waited a month to get mine from Knife center on a pre-order I will get it today in the mail from my tracking numbers it should be nice , a keeper for sure.

There seems to be about a lot of us waiting on that Sprint run. The good news is it seems Spyderco realized how popular they were after the last run and will be making a larger quantity this time. The best thing to do is register to email you when available on the sites that have that and keep an eye on the forums here. That is what I am doing.
Current Spydercos in EDC rotation: Dragonfly 2 ZDP-189, Dragonfly 2 Toku2, Vrango, Matrix 2 G10 Black, Native 5 Fluted Carbon, Canis, Native 5 Salt, Enuff Sheepfoot, Lil' Temperance 3, Proficient, Caribbean Sheepsfoot, Shaman Zwear micarta, Shaman Black/Black Spyderedge, DLT tan Yojimbo 2

Hi Frozen,

I am new too so I am trying to figure the release schedule too. But it doesn’t look like anyone knows the release date? No advice but just want to say good luck and I hope you get your knife!

There are never specific dates announced ahead of time. If you have the Spyderco app you should get a notice when they ship out to dealers. Then they will start showing up at dealers in the coming days after the app notification. The Shaman could start shipping next week, or it could be next year being we are in the middle of a global pandemic. No one knows until they get shipped to dealers. Best of luck!

I just did that this week and have been checking it regularly. So thankful to be a part of this forum. Would have never really know about the Shaman in the first place. Thanks!

Hi Celt,

Welcome to our forum and thanx for your service.

Alaska and Hawaii were the states that Gail and I ended up with to promote our products back in the '80's. We spent a fair about of time up there between the Rondy and the Fair. Great area.

Hey Sherbert,

A welcome to you too, to our forum. Great folks hang out here. Knowledgeable, willing to share and especially civil with good manners.

I hope you enjoy your time here.

On the Shaman, we're learning the model is more popular than thought earlier. There are a number of Sprints in-the-works all with interesting materials and we'll make as many as you want. Maybe a FRN model for lower cost? If the Exclusive models do well, they'd be wise to reproduce the run, so a panic isn't necessary. The best source of info is on this forum or with the App.

That's wonderful. We love it up here and the Shaman really is a champion in my opinion so far. I have the one with S30V and I have no complaints. I'm just a fan of the Z-wear metal and my favorite knife is now the Shaman so I truly can't think of a better matchup. I am staying informed here and I am truly grateful for all the members and support I've seen so far on this forum. Seems like a wonderful little community and in happy to be apart of it! Since moving to alaska I have found that taking something for granted can cost you life and limb here. Alaska is beautiful but she's equally as deadly when you start getting out into the bush unprepared. I look forward to seeing how this sprint run will fair! Thanks Sal for the kind words!

Sal, Thanks for the welcome. Long time observer and attempted learner. Lots of experience and knowledge on this forum. I also agree civility Is the norm here. Generally that’s not always the case on other forums.
