I'd like to see more purple.

But, if we are going VG-10 why not use light grey like the Lum Tanto and Dyad? It can be dyed pretty much any color.

SE, please :)

Hi PSquared,

The 3rd maker is Kitchen knives. We've tried many makers in Seki over the 40 years we've been working with them. Most have retired, passed away or closed up shop.

Dazen,

The two makers are close. More depends on their capacity and a versatility.

VG10 is so much better than it gets credit for
And I'm not at all disagreeing with that either. The main reason I would like to see them do a Sprint Run of the C-60 Ayoob in something other than VG-10 is because the first two issues of this great model were both done in VG-10 and I think most people would like to try something different for a change.

Oh you’re not wrong- just picking the easiest path to actually getting the knife. It’s never been released in G10 and SE. I personally only want SE

Isn't that kind of one of the objectives of a Sprint Run of any model to somewhat tweak and improve it as you go along?

Our first challenge to overcome was to find out if the original maker still has the tooling and can make the run. We just heard back that they can do it. Now we'll need to see if they can make it in screw construction without needing new tooling.

This maker has not worked with any non Japanese steel, so VG-10 is still the easiest to make it happen. We'll skeletonize the liners to reduce weight. If we can get a color nailed down, I can move.

There is also an exclusive request for an Ayoob and they're waiting to see what we do first. So there could be 2 Ayoob's down the road.

So if we think VG-10, skeletonized liners, screw construction, we need a color for G-10, or any other requests/suggestions for a handle material ???

sal
Wow!! that is fabulous news!! Some handle colors that intrigue me are Burgundy, Gray, Blue-Green, Dark Blue or just deep dark BLACK. I was kind of hoping for something newer than VG-10 in blade steel but the more I think about it that knife is so well designed and so ergonomic that it can do extremely well in VG-10 ( as it has in the past) >> In both SE & PE. VG-10 is one of the very few steels that I've had great luck with in both edge types. Screw construction is also great news.

For those newer fans, new forum members and newcomer knife aficionados this is some of the best news for our community in quite some time. No other company other than Spyderco would have even considered our wishes I'm sure of it.

Hey guys and girls we owe the man a huge "THANK YOU" for hearing us out :) OK what is our nest step?? In other words how can we be of help???

I'm definitely going to pick one of these up.

I'll throw my vote in for any shade of green, especially foliage green. It'd be cool to see the diamond arc texture used in the PM2.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

Many thanks for the clarification Sal. It’s sad to see craftsmen disappear but it is the cycle of business (and life). I’m going to guess (again probably incorrectly) that Kitchen Knives makes the Centofante 3.

JD, sorry for derailing your thread a bit .

I'm with you there Bro!! We've just got to have this Sprint Run in SE & PE both. Otherwise it won't be nearly as sweet.

I'm so thankful that Mr. Glesser is taking a serious look at this one. VG-10 makes a decent serrated blade.

Very good news indeed! Yes to full SE. As for G-10 handle colors, dark green or dark gray would look nice. Some color of linen Micarta would be sweet too, though.

Burgundy scales sound nice. I’ve always liked the green scales on the 204P Millie.

I've followed this thread since day one, I say we have JD pick the color of G-10 and roll with it, his thread, his color! I think that's fair and I'm sure it'll be a color we can all live with, let's get on with it!

100% support this. Joe has been the biggest Ayoob supporter here and he's the one who initially opened my eyes to this model so I think he deserves it.

I'm also super excited about the potential dealer exclusive...I just hope (again) that all versions are offered in SE and I'm gonna keep repeating that just for good measure :p

Would a run in ZDP-189 be on the table? Since it'd be a Japanese steel as well.

Sounds good to me. I’ll be happy with whatever color is chosen. Another option: JD could create a poll to gauge color preferences.

Hi PSquared,

The kitchen knife maker just makes kitchen knives.

Hey Popplelopolis,
