Decisions, decisions...
I'm wanting a pm2 with some teeth. So...s30v fully serrated or 52100 combo edge? Anyone with a combo edge pm2 - do you find the serrated section long enough to be useful?
As an aside...there need to be more SE pm2's out there!

Re: Decisions, decisions...
I guess I can´t make you consider an Endela SE instead (practically same dimensions in handle-, blade- and edge length as the PM2)?
The serrations in that(rather thin ffg) blade are done just perfectly.
/ Generally I am one of those (few??) who find even the really short section of serrations in the comboedge Delica usefull enough! Still I´d go for fully serrated instead of CE on a PM2
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I was tempted by that sale on the combo edge 52100 but then it's still $170 so I passed.

Re: Decisions, decisions...
I would absolutely consider a SE endela, just wanting a SE pm2 right now for a scale swap I have in mind. I've liked the SE pac salt so much that I definitely will add multiple SE models to my rotation as money allows.Wartstein wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 4:33 pmI guess I can´t make you consider an Endela SE instead (practically same dimensions in handle-, blade- and edge length as the PM2)?

I'm not a fan of combo edge. I want fully serrated or full plain edge
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!
Re: Decisions, decisions...
That's not too bad I guess. I really wanna try 52100 in SE, I think aside from the obvious corrosion issues it would otherwise be an awesome steel for serrations.

Re: Decisions, decisions...
Me, too. If that one was fully serrated it'd be a no-brainer for me. Basically, I want to put a SE or CE blade into the green scales on the Knifejoy pm2 (if I can get one), then either keep the 20cv/carbon fiber Frankenpm2 or sell the 20cv/black g10 one. 52100 and carbon fiber seems like an odd combo to me...

Re: Decisions, decisions...
Don’t know if this helps but I have the full serrated para 3 and love it. I would say go full SE.
also, not as fond of the 52100. Just my 0.02

Re: Decisions, decisions...
Highly recommend the 52100 Combo Edge, even just for the CF scales alone. I did the scale swap with my M390 DLT and probably use the 52100 more than any of my other PM2’s. Also, like Wartstein said, the serrations are more than enough for any job.

Re: Decisions, decisions...
Go for the fully serrated in S30V it is phenomenal I have owned both and sold the 52100 wish we could get a combo blade in S30V oh well perhaps S45VN will be the one.
Re: Decisions, decisions...
i think this is where i am with se too. i'd rather carry one of each (and do) than one that tries to be good at both. also, i like how most spyderco se knives have pe for the last quarter to half inch. that's a useful amount of pe for most of my applications.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Re: Decisions, decisions...
I like good combo edges. I get the best of both that way.
I’m not a PM2 fan...don’t hate it, don’t love it. I’ll never buy another. I’m with Warstein. I’d be more inclined to the Endela.

Re: Decisions, decisions...
One hawkbill SE and a regular PE is the way to go :-D
Re: Decisions, decisions...
So, I decided to go with the CE 52100 pm2 since it won't be around forever. It arrived yesterday, and I used it today moving my father-in-law and brother-in-law into their new house, opening and breaking down boxes all day. I'm sure I'll end up with a fully SE pm2 at some point, but I was super happy with the CE today. Plenty of length in both the PE and SE sections for everything I needed. And it's worth noting: I thought carbon fiber was an odd choice for a 52100 blade, but the heavily textured peel-ply carbon fiber on this one is actually awesome. Very grippy and feels plenty tough, and the cf pattern makes it much more interesting than the usual black g10 scales. This could actually become a favorite carry for me - wish we could get CE and SE in more pm2s!

Nice choice, I've gone back and forth on the CE 52100 PM2 quite a bit.
I'm looking forward to hearing more of what you think of yours.
