Baby Jess Horn
Re: Baby Jess Horn
+1
I got my first one for $100 w/ free shipping from a dealer, then went hunting for a backup and found one lnib for ~eighty on the secondary market. Almost bought a third when Ebay did their last big coupon deal, but I managed to restrain myself lol.

Re: Baby Jess Horn
Figured this was a good spot for an updated family shot... :) These are just (all) the Babies, I did not include the full-sized ones.

^ Very nice!
Kind of funny you posted this today. I realized last night I haven't carried my BJH in awhile because I stowed a bunch of knives away in my gun safe. Might be time to bring some of those back into rotation.

Re: Baby Jess Horn
Can I get some good comparison pictures of this model with some other small spydies? Maybe a Dragonfly, Ladybug, Air, Delica? That would be appreciated! Thanks!

I just saw that GPKnives still has the gray one in stock, around $100.

The grey Baby Horn is the best little knife ever >:)
I've been looking at the SS one, but I never seem to use my SS knives.

So much better looking with the swedge.
Re: Baby Jess Horn
Yea, but the FFG is a light saber. I wonder what the BTE is on the swedged ones. I think the FFG Baby Horn is like .012.

In above pics, the third one over is FFG with a swedge.
Re: Baby Jess Horn
Hey Larry, that's a great collection.
FYI,
When I was living in Redding, California circa 1975, I met Jess Horn at his home and got my first taste and experience of what really good custom knives were like. I decided then that when Gail and I left Redding (In our Bread truck) , We were going to ultimately become knife makers. Jess's quality and knowledge was extremely influential in out future. I later met him again at the Guilld show when I joined the Guild in 1980 and he again impressed me with his knowledge and skill and we began working on the first Jess Horn / Spyderco collaboration. He's absolutely one of the best ever!
Might be a good time for another Jess Horn piece. Which one?

Hi Sal, please, please don’t forget that I asked you in person at the OKCA show for a full size Horn just like the recent gray G10 Baby version!! :D I also asked Eric about it at this year’s show. Thanks! Radioactivesal wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 9:00 pmHey Larry, that's a great collection.

I'd choose the full size SS or a re-run of the maroon micarta myself.
Cheers

Re: Baby Jess Horn
How about a set? Baby and regular in white Micarta with Maxamet!
Re: Baby Jess Horn
Please, please, PLEASE, make another Baby Horn with an upgraded steel! Exactly as it is now, with maybe Superblue(since it's Moki). I also dream of a white/ivory G10 version done up like a Caribbean with LC200N used to make the blade, liners, lockbar, backspacer and hardware.... That would be the ultimate iteration in my book.(I've thought of sending one off to be taken apart and copied to those specifications)sal wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 9:00 pmHey Larry, that's a great collection.

I truly love the Baby Horn! It is the perfect combination of heft, cutting performance and classiness; all in a minuscule package.
I would like it to have screw construction, but I am so happy with the current one that I would buy it either way! Also, No LW, No Linerless. It is nearly perfect in it's current configuration
The biggest compliment I can give this knife is this...
My father, a man who has never carried a knife(flat out refused to) and could see no reason to carry one, STOLE IT FROM ME. He carries it every single day and loves it. Right now it's in his pocket at a casino in Biloxi. I had been trying forever to get him to carry a Spyderco. "Nope, don't need one." Was always his response to every knife I offered him.
Then one fateful day, shortly after receiving my Baby Horn, he came over to my house and I was outside piddling in the garage. I was restringing my weed whacker and sat the BH down on the bench. Next thing I know, he has the BH in his hand going "Hmm... This is nice." He dropped it in his pocket and said "Thanks, Son!". The rest is history!
He still doesn't desire knives, but you try to touch his Baby Horn and you'll get your @$$ beat by 300lbs of angry Hulk!
He will be buried with that knife.
So... Please? I've had two and both of them have been pried from my possession, the third will not be!
Side note: The "Baby" Horn would be the perfect model to raise money for the Children's Hospital.

+1 This would be awesome, though I would be in on any future Horn models. :)RadioactiveSpyder wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 10:16 pmHi Sal, please, please don’t forget that I asked you in person at the OKCA show for a full size Horn just like the recent gray G10 Baby version!! :D I also asked Eric about it at this year’s show. The Baby Horn still features heavily in my rotation since I picked it up (and a spare). Hard to believe they're still available. One of my absolute favorites, along with the full-sized white micarta variant I managed to snag, though that one is showing its age and has some play.
