I don't see the appeal of natural G10... it looks like something you'd find swimming around at the bottom of the Marianas Trench.

Natural G10 with DLC is highly sought after combo. Another good thing about natural G10, is you can easily RIT dye the scales any color you like!

And yes, I did swap the blade back into the natural G10 scales. The very slight mismatch between the height of the backspacer and the fluted CF scales drove my OCD too crazy to leave it that way. Hopefully some of you planning to also do this swap have better luck! But of course don’t forget who did it first :D

I swapped too. I had the same luck with my backspacer. Gonna carry it a while and see if it bugs me or not. But I’m thinking I may follow suit and swap back.

Ah I see that little bit of raised area. While it may not be flush looks great to me. Did you swap the blade only or all the hardware?

I swapped scales only. Very simple and straight forward. Just do one side at a time, and it is never fully disassembled.

Have caught the blade (Spyderco) virus after being content w/an old, beat up Delica g-2 from 1990. Now
have a Para 3 and this new Native 5 in M4 within 3 months. Why am I doing this???

My ocd couldn’t take the uneven backspacer. Or the fact that I disassembled my grail native (fluted cf Maxamet)in favor of a stealth treatment. So I swapped back and dyed the jade gray. A bit darker than I wanted. But now I have my grail native back, plus another dang fine native :D

Would the DLC coating provide adequat corrosion protection with normal use? I live in a non humid area and I put always a bit of Ballistol on the blades I carry.

In my experience, I have to say yes it does help. Like you, I still coat my DLC M4 with some mineral oil after use...nothing wrong with some preventative maintenance!

Thank you guys, I appreciate the comments. The CF clip is made by Aramis Ahkmedov in Russia, who has a webstore on both Amazon and eBay. Can’t possibly recommend his stuff any more highly, I have a few PM2, Para 3 and ZT scale sets from him that are phenomenal quality and I have 3 of these CF clips. They are extremely strong and while I won’t say someone couldn’t break them if snagged hard enough, it would take a mighty snap to do so, they’re that tough (on par with any metal clip).

That said, here’s more eye candy with a fluted Ti N5 with S110V blade and polished Ti Lynch clip I put together a couple of years ago. Hope you like them. :) Cheers, Radioactive

After seeing your pics, I ordered two from eBay, waited the 3 weeks for the clip to arrive from Russia, and placed one on my S90v Para 3. On the second day out, I broke it.

The clips look nice, but there is almost ZERO flex. Getting it clipped in my jeans pocket took some effort, and I guess I pulled too hard out of my pocket on the second day because it snapped right off. I'm not strong by any means. I work in IT and have soft hands. Maybe I just got a bad one. *shrug* Glad I got an extra!

Really sorry that happened. I have 3-4 of these on users and I’ve had no issue with them. I even brought one to the SFO on Friday on my CF Para 3, and the salesman there played with it and tested its “springiness” with no issue. I would reach out to Aramis with that pic and I’d bet he’d set you square. Good luck, Radioactive :)
