I'll now make a motion on the floor  I now motion that BALLISTOL should be declared the official lubricant, cleaner, restorer and general purpose product of the Spyderco Empire  Oh I'm not at all saying that you couldn't go ahead and use your previous favorite lube, cleaner and solvent. But I am saying that when it comes to G-10, Micarta, FRN and metal surfaces too for that matter that it is truly hard to beat for many jobs.

Now I'm a fair guy>> if anybody can come up with a product that can out perform BALLISTOL then I'll be the first one to take a serious look at it. No we are not going to let the "odor problem" be a "game changer" or a "deal killer" because it doesn't last all that long anyway. And BLOKE is right it is great for cleaning and revamping you fishing reels too.

It is interesting and sort of ironic that I got my very first can of it from SFO back around 05-06. Gee maybe the guys at SFO might have known something all along

I don't mind the smell either.

I reckon it smells a bit like aniseed. :)

There is no colour in It, but It seems like pale leather darkens slightly.

Yeah I've seen BALLISTOL make a lot of different items darken when using it. But with G-10 it just flat out revives and rejuvenates it

When I used it on one older wooden tool handle it seemed to darken it more than linseed oil>> the wood is some type of hardwood the best I can tell.

Ballistol not only has some interesting properties to it as to how it reacts differently on a wide range of surfaces and materials. I've also had great results cleaning the outside parts of old fishing reels with it. Since I learned about it back around 2005-2006 when I got my first can of it I've also talked to a few machinists who had lots of good things to say about it.

I like that ballistol emulsifies in water rather than being replaced by water. Therefore it will give some level of lube/ protection even in less than ideal conditions.
