Sharpmaker vs Boxcutter

#1

Post by Hobnob »

Got the old Boxcutter out tonight to cut strips of felt for a project I'm working on. This Boxcutter has done loads of cutting over the last few years of various materials. The edge was horrible. Wouldn't even cut paper. So instead of replacing the blade with a new one, I introduced it to the Sharpmaker.

Using the Fine rods set in the 40 deg. position I made a few passes. It is now as sharp as new. The sharpmaker ceases to amaze me. I've had this one for about 15 years and it is still going strong. Just in case something were to happen to this one I have a new backup.
Thank you Spyderco.

Mine is a little older than yours and still going strong with the original stones. I've used it on over 500 different knives.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

I have used the Sharpmaker on my Gerber EAB, but I use the 30 degree angle.
