Grown up Jester? or "Playing with Photoshop"

#1

Post by Rob »

I really like the shape of the Jesters blade and would love to see a bigger knife with a similar blade. I know - there's the A.T.R but it's blade looks a bit too agressive for my taste to be a cute little knife that everyone like on first sight :)

I played a little with Photoshop and combined the handles of the D'Allara and the Delica with a minimal modified Jester blade.

I think that a knife like this could make a good EDC. What do you guys think?

Cheers, Rob

Yeah, I don't know what it is but I too like the Jester blade. I really like that Delica/Jester ;) I'll take a couple of those.

Both are "interesting" Rob. Blowing the entire FRN Jester up to Calypso Jr ~ Delica size would work too. Speaking for myself, once past its current size, I'd much prefer a design that incorporates a 50/50 choil as it increases my grip options. If you're in a 'shoppin mood, you might try mating the Jester blade shape with the Caly Jr, or 79mm Rescue handle or with an FRN version of the design used on the Byrd Meadowlark and see what you think of them.

I love the Jester blade shape as well! I also found the ATR to be too agressive as well. I like both models, espeically the Jester and Delica baby.

Interesting idea, Deacon! How about these? A Jester blade on a Rescue handle and on a Meadowlark handle :D

Image

If they were real and I had to decide, I took the errrr... "Jescue"? "Rester"? Whatever... My second choice would be the "Jelica", as Alex calls this thing. ;)

Anyway, I would love to see a Spydie with that kind of bladeshape!

 Great job Rob!!!! To me, the 50/50 choil makes a knife both better looking and easier to use. Favor the look of the "Rester" myself, but the Meadowlark handled version has potential too, perhaps even moreso if done in FRN with Calypso Jr style "fishscale" texturing and tip down clip mounting.

I like the "Rester" the best now. The "Jelica" is nice, but now seeing the "Rester" I want that one! :p

Looks neat, especially the second one. However, the d'Allara handles is kind of bulky, but they improved that in the mean time, IIRC.

WOW! Those look GRRRREAT! I'm on board with that Rester/Jescue. Though they both look really good.

Hey Rob, maybe you could get a job working for Sal ;)

I like the look of a larger Jester blade on some of those handles. My vote would be first for a smaller Dallara (maybe a 3.5 or 4 inch handle) with that blade, followed by a 4-4.5 inch rescue handle. In some snazzy snappy color, like maybe a bright green (like the old Jesters) or a deep dark red. :D

Just my .08 worth. (I was born in 73, so I adjusted for inflation). :D
