Para vs. Yojimbo

#1

Post by Jack_sloane333 »

Well fellow spydie nuts i have come to a rather difficult problem.
I have done the research, have checked the different reviews and am still confused.

So I ask those who have handled them:

Which Spyderco knife is better, the Para or the Yojimbo?

Which is best for edc?
Which has a better blade shape?
which has more comfortable handleing?

They both have great locks and both can be used for SD. (I hope i wont ever need them for that)

I ask these questions since i will be buying one to go along with the military that i will be oredering in the next few days. I know some will say get the para to go with the milie, (a wonerful pair no doubt) but that yojimbo looks so cool (as does the para).

I think haveing to decide what knives to buy and when is the only bad thing about buying/clollecting spyderco knives.

thanks for any info,

I own and carry both. I feel that the Paramillie is the best utility folder, since the handle and bladeshape is more versatile. The Yojimbo is by far the best MBC folder of the two, the grip and blade shape are best for a 3 inch bladed folding knife for MBC use.

What will this folder's primary task be? Utility or MBC?

To confuse you even more check these links:

Paramilitary

Yojimbo

I hope everything works, most of the new site is still under construction.

In the end you will get both, trust me.

Let us know how you decide.

Thanks for the info, I had been to your site a few times love the info and the pics; dont think i had seen the yojimbo though.

Well actually the folder I choose will just back up the Military, and only really be used when i feel that useing a knife with a blade length as big as the milie in a heavy sheeple zone would get me in trouble. (it already has though  )

But like i said that Yojimbo just looks so cool and calls to me to buy it and use it. I originally thought on just buying both, but I've been putting off buying the millie for way to long and it would easily replace the endura I EDC right now.
Whichever i dont choose will more then likely be bought in a month or so when i buy the Manix :D I'm just to impatient i guess

**** if only i had an extra 113.00 to spare i could get all 3, but then my problem would be which to use :D

For heavy sheeple use, nothing works quite as well as a 'pretty' little folder like the SS Dragonfly. It has a similar profile to your Military. I use mine as a back-up folder for public use. Sorry, you are lookingfor info to make life easier, not harder, I apologise :p

If you are getting the Millie than get the Yojimbo to compliment it. I handled the Para and my first thought was...I have the Millie why would I want to go any smaller. The Para or Yojimbo will rise eyebrows from sheeple. There are few sheeple friendly knives out there. The Yojimbo is quite tough and nice a sturdy with the dual nested liners. It has been my EDC for just over a week now. I used the end of the handle the other day to chip ice from the back hatch on my Jeep. I don't think the tip would have held up to that abuse but the G-10 was fine after. If you get the Blue Yojimbo that will even help the sheeple factor abit. I personally don't like the Para as I carried a Millie for so long think it was a perfect size. My vote the Yojimbo to go with your anticipated Millie. Take Care!!!

Oh, and plus you will get the benefit of another edge configuration with the Yojimbo :D

:spyder: Awww, who cares what sheeple thinks. :spyder:
I'd rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6

Well true a little knife would be good for a heavy sheeple zone, but i hate useing small knives. (handle is usually to small) The Native III is the smallest folding knife i will use and the S.P.O.T. is the smallest FB i will use.

Yeah thats true, the millie will be utility folder, no point carrying 2 utility folders.

Those edges would look great with the Harpy i currently am carrying. :)

LOL yeah i agree with that; unfortunately sheeple dont think like that, and i dont need any more hassle from my customers or coworkers. Perhaps if they see me useing a knife as big as a millie in a non violent utility way I maight be able to lesson there sheepleness ways and attitude.

BTW i forgot to ask is the millie's handle thicker or thinner then an endura?

It is so close you might as well call it the same thickness.
