I mailed with Sia aout her leaving both knife forums. She said that although she admitted that she made a mistake, they kept on bashing her. BFC seems to be an "USA" only forum. She seems to have posted some criticism about the USA in the past and posted some pics that the neo-conservatists inside BFC thought where offending. It seems that "foreigners" are being tolerated if they play along, meaning beeing christian, male, if u pledge to the US flag, and if u don't talk funny or say ANYTHING wrong about the US. They seem to think that their opinions are carved in stone and although they bash on extremism, they are extremists themselve. I have learned a lot in BFC, but they should do something about the W&C. This is the "jock" forum, almost like highschool, where u get picked on by a bloodthursty wolfpack because u are different. IMHO most of the pirates are frustrated guys, some even not in their twenties who want to get accepted by posting profanity.
The profanity they write says a lot about their sexual moral. They seem to be offended by nude breast but they talk the most foul language they can imagine in their little "trailertrash" mind. I tried to defend Sia and tell them that everyone in his or her life can make mistakes and should get the benefit of the doubt. This was to no avail, they tought i was a sissy because i warned them that they turned BFC into a white male chauvenist forum where the moderators only seem to tolerate what they believe is right.
To no avail my post was posted in W&C and then the gloves came off. U could split up the posts in either childish profanity or "don't mess with the USA". When i used latin phrases to underline my thoughts they thought that i was either talking nonsense, or that i was an elitist.
I stated that everyone has the right for an opinion, even if "they" think it is wrong, but it didn't get thru their thick skulls.
Simona has taken a lot of heat, it's not fun to find your name and picture mentioned in almost every frustrated thread. After a while i saw that the W&C threads started are either about getting drunk, sex or why the Americans are better then the rest of the world.

Not only was she bombarded in the forum, they harrased her thru her email, and on msn messenger. They scanned the post she made here and copied them to make fun of her there.

Simona is a human with her good things and her bad things, i don't believe she ever posted anything willingly to hurt anyone's feelings.

But it seems that they went to far and that she made her decision to quit the forums because she was tired of beeing offended.

Although i regret her leaving i understand her decision. I don't know if she will come back to this forum, she is a woman , and married men know that once a woman has made up her mind there is not much u can about it.

indeed , a thrue loss to the Spyderco community. :(

Simona,

I'm truly sorry to hear that. I hope you will reconsider as I consider you a super asset to our small collector community. I've always enjoyed your posts and your super pics. Remember my MOP SF Police knife that you posted? I certainly remember ....

If it suits you, grab a new ID and stick around, but don't let the comments of a few drive you from something you love.

Although most will agree that the treatment that Simona received from some of the BladeForums members was uncalled for, I suggest that it is time to stop the "Forum Bashing"

A few posters who go over the top when attacking any available target do not define BladeForums as a whole.

Bringing the topic here and bashing BladeForums, Americans, etc. is not productive! Maybe you feel a need to vent - tough. This is not the place!

Inter Forum wars start in this manner. The next result will be that the story of the discussion here will be taken there and the battle will be on. It's happened before between Forums and it certainly can happen again.

If you have problems with another Forum, then don't go there. But don't bring the problems here to vent and continue the bashing just because you're feeling beaten up in the other Forum.

We have prided ourselves on being civil here. Bashing other Forums or nationalities is not the way to demonstrate that.

Let's not let this degrade further.

David

p.s. you'll notice I'm neither American nor European. My comments are not intended to defend (or condemn) "Americans" I just don't like the negative characterization of any nationality as a whole based on the actions of a few.

i would like to appologize

Post by loki88 »

ok, here's the deal, i would like to appologize the friends who where offended by my posts in BFC. I am not nor will ever be anti-american, i wear a 9/11 rememberance pin on my police uniform. I have been called upon the pin by my oh so political correct thinking bosses, that it could offend te pro Osama Bin Ladens in Antwerpen. I don't care, it won't come off.
I have nothing against people from the USA.

But i can't stand the fact that they laugh with Canadians, Belgiums, Dutch ( yes even them ;) ), Germans, Jewish people, Islamic people or whatever. I defended Sia because she was bashed their, i don't know if she ever tried to attract men by showing her boobs. Even if she did, i still don't care.

I tried to explain that i am not the one to have a moral judgement about anyone else, whatever they are or wherever they come from. I come from a family that has collaborated with the Germans during WWII, my grandfather died in the Oekraïne ( he fought for the waffen SS) for a cause that he thought was good, the independance of Flandern, and to fight against in his eyes a Satanic communism. He never saw any concentration camps and as a deeply religious person would be enormously opposed against it.

My family is still suffering from the repression by the Belgium governement, who burned down my grandparents house, dragged my grandmother thru the streets , urinated on her and shaved her head bold. Untill this day we as a family have to pay the enormous fines my family recieved for beeing "collaborators".

This has formed me into a man that has an enormous adverse against intolerance. IMHO everyone can do things in their lives wich later on proved wrong or right.
Lone Wolf was bashed in BFC, and i defended him, when he crossed MY line about his thoughts on abortion i decided to stay away from him for a while. They banned him and now he is here. I welcome Lone Wolf and hope that he can be a good member of this forum, because everyone can get dragged along in a discussion, and everyone has the right for an opinion.

I decided to leave BFC and might return under a new nick, i will stay away from the W&C forum, and i want to appologize to anyone who was offended by any of my posts. But i remain with the tought that bashing Simona was bad.

Now lets get on with bussiness. Oh btw , i deleted my Loki88 sign in in BFC, i cannot answer under that name, nor can i reply. This was done as a preventive measure by me to refrain myself from getting into another discussion in W&C. People who know me will recognise me in BFC, but i will keep a lower profile because sometimes it's better to shut up.

If someone want's to post my appology into BFC they can do that, it will still be misunderstood by some, but my consious is clear.

I e-mailed Simona today to try to persuade her not to at least leave this best of Forums ( you bet, the Spyderco Forum). She very graciously replied to me and told me that she thought for now it would be best. Although I disagree with her decision I have always liked her, her posts and her knowledge on Spyderco products. I don't know what happened on Bladeforums I wish someone would contact me personally and let me know. I just took out a "Platinum Membership" in the Bladeforums thinking they were good people and it would help all of our cause. Well now I am not so sure. I am beginning to believe that if they would mistreat this young lady for hardly no reason then eventually they may crap on me as well. At this juncture I am not totally sure as to what to do. Should we all boycott them?

No, I do not think we should boycott "them" If anyone wants to boycott anything then just don't participate in the W&C forum on BladeForums that has no controls on it and where a few people basically attack anything that sticks it's head up.

Boycotting BladeForums completely, because of the actions of a very small minority of members is an overreaction - and it won't have any effect anyway.

Severedthumbs and Lone Wolf - knock off the "BladeForums sucks" stuff. Keep you problems with another Forum off this one!

JD don't cancel your platinum membership. There have been problems in the past between the Spyderco and BFC forums. Although i consider :spyder: as my basecamp, i like to snoop around in bfc. The problem with Sia is that she as an European Girl posted pics in BFC where she was not properly dressed in the eyes of some ultra convervatist in BFC. The photo's where based on SIA own website. On that website where also more sexier pictures of here. These where copied and pasted in BFC without her notice. This is an European girl that lies monokini on the beach and so does 90% of the women in Belgium, France , Spain etc. Because they found monokini pictures on her website they decided that she was a "attention whore" (sic), and they started to bash her over her "nudity" pictures on her OWN wesite.

Sia designed a tattoo and to stay out of trouble for showing her own butt again, she took a picture of an US girl from the internet and pasted the tattoo on it. When asked if it was here butt she said "this is like my butt". The "wolfpack" started searching the web untill they found the original picture without the tattoo, and called her an "*** thief" and a liar! First they attacked her because she posted pics of her own body and afterwards because she didn't wanted the same story over again someone elses ***!

Because the threads against Sia where loaded with pro USA and anti Europe comments, she responded with her thoughts on the international politics of the USA.

This enraged the "wolfpack" even more because Sia had the guts to say anything "bad" about the wholy USA.
From that point on they started to bash her automaticaly whenever she posted something, even calling her photo's a patent infringement against Spyderco! We all know that we where all pleased with the wallpaper's she made of different :spyder: knives and if Sal, Carlos or Joyce didn't liked it they would have asked her to stop and she would.

Because at some point her *** pictures where discussed on this forum as well, she decided to stay away, because as a young female, she was called the most decusting profanity's. I guess this gave her an adverse against the forum because she couldn't defend her.

If i tried to defend her the moderators automatically turned the post into W&C, so the "wolfpack" would notice and they found another victim!

Basically thats what they do down there, if they snoop u out as a target, they will drag u in the cove and make fun of you and harras and use profanity.

There was a new member that wondered into the W&C cove and got banned because he tried to defend me! Because he worked with problem children, they called him a pedophile! When he tried to reason with him he was banned.

Maybe she will come back, maybe she won't , the mind of a women that made up her mind is very strong.

I agree with David on this one. Forum bashing is not the answer...it just gets messy.
It is too bad Simona has left but ultimately it is her decision to not participate.

I think there is another possible explanation for why the thread was moved to the W&C Forum on BladeForums. The thread was more likely moved because of the inappropriate language it contained rather than just because you were trying to defend Simona. Who knows for sure? However, I wouldn't attribute the worst of motives to the moderators actions. Also, no one can "drag" you into W&C - they can move the thread but you don't have to keep participating.

I'm certainly not trying to excuse the treatment you received, but please let's just leave the problems in that other forum and not keep trying to defend or condemn in this Forum.
