For anyone who wants to check out the other site of this discussion on the Strider Forums it is:
http://badlands.badlandsforums.com/foru ... #post26167
I hope whom ever does read it will be calm about it. There is no point in either side fighting over this. . . .

I am Long Rifle.severedthumbs wrote:Everyone Long Rifle is the one who started all this mess.
In my book Long Rifle is a piece of shitte. screw you a-hole.
If you don't like what I have to say, do not read my posts. Simple as that.
I stand by what I said before; anyone wanting to put up his/her Spyderco against my Striders, I've got no problem doing just that.
Be advised that I did not start this thread. Nor did I stoop to the grade-school name-calling that you are.
I own both Spyderco and Strider. You do not. Yet you had no problem shooting your mouth off about a brand of knife that you know nearly nothing about. And when you did, I was supposed to sit there and like it.
No dice. Now, take your little names and stick them.

I OWN a couple of Spydercos. What more do I need to say?severedthumbs wrote:he should be given a vacation from here. Obviously he dislikes Spyderco so he will no longer be a contributing member here so why keep him around?

I never said he told me that; I said that he uses a different heat treat via Paul Bos than other makers. A unique heat treat.sal wrote: Jim, I've met Mick, we've had some conversations. I was having a hard time buying that Mick would say that Strider's S30V was "better" than Chris Reeve's, Benchmade's, Lone wolf's or Spyderco's S30V.
As it turned out he wasn't saying that.

Strider wasn't even advertised in the beginning; our servicemen were using their knives exclusively. As it is now, they aren't one of the top advertisers in the industry. They don't need to, as their knives sell faster than they can make them.Jon_USA wrote:
Strider happens to be the hot thing and they are marketed very well. If they were not they would not have people lining up paying 400 to 475 and up for the folders.
They also would not have every Tom Dick and Harry copying them with the wrap and the stripping.

I'm not really bothered that you're not impressed.
Perhaps I wasn't trying to impress you.

You are right I own no Striders, but I have owned 4 in the past, but they just weren't a knife I carried often so I got rid of them. I also own many Microtech's and they are a way better knife than Strider.

I wouldn't swing the broad brush that wide, Severedthumbs. Yes, a bunch of them did take Long Rifle at his word, and perhaps they should have come here and read Sal's precise quotes before posting some of the horrible things they did. However, a lot of guys on that forum are very honorable and put their butts on the line on a daily basis! As I said before, the only person who lacks integrity is the member here who misquoted Sal on the other forum.severedthumbs wrote:I am done with this, we know who the perp is and that is that.
The integrity of the people on that forum is obvious.

Rant
LR/JimD, you have indeed demontrated some degree of immaturity here. Your posts on Strider's site are clearly inflammatory. Fortunately, Mr. Strider and Mr. Glesser have risen above your schoolgirl antics and shown each other due respect.
I don't own nor do I plan to own any Strider products but handling one might change my mind. I won't allow the posts by you and a few others taint my view of Strider products.
I must agree with Sal, lots of different knife companies each with a different niche. Occasionally, there is some crossover and competition. Someone loses and someone wins there, it is business.
I love Spyderco knives for their performance and value. But I am not a high end hard user, my cutting needs actually are relatively meager and much less expensive knives would suffice. You like Strider products better. Maybe you need what you perceive to be a brawnier product. That part of this mess is all good. If I ever need brawn, I will use one of my heavier duty spydies or a fixed blade knife or do the best I can with what I have on hand.
If I have to use my spydie for some emergency situation and I break it, I don't care if it is not covered under warrantee. It is a tool that served me well up until that point. Tools don't last forever. They break or wear down and need to be replaced occasionally.
Spyderco's innovation allows me to keep on trying different varieties of quality cutting tools at reasonable prices. I occasionally buy and use other knives but so far always come back to :spyder: .
Thank you Sal for making great products.
