One week with the Para 3 S110V

The last time I liked a knife this much was when I got the Sage 1 right when they first came out. The Para 3 is a great hand fit, the opening is effortless, but detent is strong. Unlocking is almost as easy. Now the blade doesn't drop freefall. I adjusted it that way, I don't like the blade hitting the stop then bouncing back open again.
On the S110V. Ankerson's testing convinced me to try this steel and I must say I see why he likes it. I didn't test it the way he does, but for my simple needs S110V is more than enough. I still have the factory edge (no reprofile), just a little stropping is all it needs. It still slices paper. :) I've cut cardboard, paper, white pine, sisal bailing twine. I put a tiny "ding" in the edge(think it was the sisal), but the rest of the edge still cuts great, going to work on the edge later, it's fine for now.
Now the purple G10. (and it's purple, not dark blue)
So, I gave it a Rit dye (Midnight Navy). This is much more to my liking, actually it looks black most of the time, in some light you can see the Navy. This is my second dye job and turned out much better than the first.
You can see the result next to another old "Golden" product. I'm pleased with the fine work the people at Golden did here.

I agree. I really enjoy S110v. I was nervous at first since I read that a lot of people said it is hard to sharpen, but i have had great success with the sharpmaker and strops. I even like the “purple” / “blurple” handles.
