Personal thank you to Sal for the UK Penknife

I've just got my long awaited UK Penknife (design team special), and it is so perfect I've just got to thank you Sal, for all the work you put into producing this knife.
Everything, from the top quality materials, the way it fits the hand, the low profile clip, even the fasteners are perfect, but what I couldn't appreciate until I handled it, is what you've done with the slipjoint mechanism - the blade opens easily with a nice click, but bearing in mind it doesn't actually lock, it is unbelievably hard to close by leaning on the end of the blade, but as if by magic, a light push of the thumb at the pivot end closes it easily.
Who needs a lock knife?
If I needed anything heavier duty than this, I'd go for a fixed blade anyway.
All I need now is a 2/3 scale version to match it!
Thanks Sal :D

Too cool. I can't remember what the penknife looks like (will go check a pic anon), but if I remember right, there's a choil mechanism, which presumeably would keep the blade from folding on your fingers regardless. How well does that work? (please don't cut yourself checking!).

Hi Joe,
Yes, there is a choil which your forefinger sits in, and with your thumb on the grooved top ramp you're actually holding the blade. It's a really nice shape to grip, and with your finger in the choil the blade can't close. Also, it's by far the most secure slipjoint I've ever handled, the blade really clicks into place when you open it, and it takes so much force to close from pressure on the tip that I can't see it closing accidentally, unless you're doing something that you just shouldn't with any folder. The thing that amazes me though, is how easy it is to close with a push of your thumb.
Sorry, I don't know how to post pictures, but it looks a bit like the Manix, or you can find a load of pics at http://www.britishblades.com

Only 99 are engraved on the back, reserved for people who contributed to the design thread on BB.

I have to agree with you Redline, the UK penknife is about as perfect as it is. I only hope we get a similar knife over here. Even FRN and VG10 with the same mechanism would be sweet. Anything so I don't have to actually use the one UKP I was able to get. I really don't need any lock for the great majority of uses.
