Fake Native 5 G-10s - Are they out there?

#1

Post by mad german »

A coworker showed me his Native 5 G-10 and it looked great. The fa his first Spyderco and he's been bitten hard. A PM2 is next on his list. I warned him that the PM2 is often faked and to buy from a reputable dealer. He got paranoid that his Native 5 G-10 was fake since he bought it online (I don't recall where).

I've not seen fake Native 5 G-10s before, but that certainly doesn't mean they aren't out there. Does anyone have a pictorial comparison between a real and fake Native 5 G-10?

What are the signs to look for?

If you own a genuine Native 5 G-10, can you please post up some detailed pics of your knife?

Much thanks!
My collection is ever changing!

Well I'm gonna take a wild guess and say he probably bought it from Amazon/eBay because if he had gone with one of the usual knife vendors this wouldn't even be questioned. Your best bet is to search the counterfeit threads here and see what you find. Or, just stop buying knives from Amazon/eBay, much easier.

Some of the reputable dealers sell via eBay also.

And buying on eBay it's easy to see who you are actually buying from.

I have no problem purchasing from, for example, National Knives, via eBay.

There are fake Native g-10's out there, but afaik they're all fairly obvious b/c they have a liner lock instead of a back lock.

My g10 Native is the 2013 Forum version so I could post pics if you want but I'm not sure it would be helpful due to the unique scale color and pattern on them.

Is this a Fake G10? The weight is 130g instead of 105g and the letters Golden Colorado are written: “Golden COlOrado”.

Welcome to the Forum Victor.
It is hard to tell. Looks very strange for sure. I would return it to seller.

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

Thank you guys! I want to send it back but the seller says it is no fake. I don’t really know how to prove it… Hopefully your comments will help somehow

Seller has either been scammed or is a scammer. It's a fake. Look at the pics I posted, Spyderco knows how to properly capitalize Colorado. Clip is wrong too.
