Kopa's for sale

#1

Post by talonturbo »

Here it is. Not my auction. Just noticed it and 1) I hate it when people presell and 2) They are more money than I was expecting. Nice knife, and I do want one, but not for this much.

I know the seller quit good, purchased a few Spyderco's thru his shop and he sells his Spyderco's at rock bottom prices, and fast and cheap shipping. I too was disappointed by the high retail price, and expect that it will even be a lot more expensive in the knifestore. :( sad, looked like a classy knife for formal dress wear but now out of my league.

I agree with both you guys. I was looking forward to buying one. Would've been a perfect dressy Spydie (The kiwi doesn't do it for me). But now I can't justify one, being more than a Para, Chinook, or virtually any other Spyderco. Sorry Sal.

Kopa at my cabana soon?

Looks real nice. I expected it to be a little more than a bone Kiwi. I think there will be limited numbers of each handle material so I am not too surprised at the price. Hopefully they will sell well for Sal and Co. I will have one in hand soon :) .

Sorry for the Barry Manilow reference  .

Gotta admit that is one nice looking Spydie. I'd like to have one but the oral surgeon just got most of my money. Maybe when I'm older I can pick up a nice used one? I'll be toothless by then.

Toothless, maybe, but at least you will be able to cut your food into nice little bites!

Wow! That is a great looking knife! It is too rich for this college student but it is a beautiful knife! I'll just keep using my Spyderco Mouse for now.

Why is Spyderco's msrp on their knives way more than they are actually ever sold for? Like a para msrp is 180 well my dealer sells them for 110 all day. Why is that?

Perhaps the price is low cause they buy in bulk or direct from the company, i dont know, but i love it cause i save cash so i can spend on more knives. :D

The MSRP on most items is like this.It gives the dealer more room to make the profit he needs to make with out going over the MSRP and it looks better if you run a sale and list the sale price vs the MSRP.

Yeah I guess. I just don't get it. Set what the knife sells for and be done with it, all dealers have knife for same price. I just don't get all this price trickery.

Price doesn't seem out of line in comparison to other non-frn models.

I look at this Kopa and see a simple knife. A simple design with a ton of style. Looks expensive. Spyderco prices seem to be directly related to what is used to make the knife. A FRN handle is less expensive than a stainless handle. Plastic inlay is less expensive than wood. The type of steel used for the blade makes a big difference in cost of production. For around 90 you can get a bone Kiwi, for around 200 you can find an ATR. I betcha that if you hard enough at this blade 112 will seem an insignificant amount for what you get. I want one.
