This model was my top choice from the 2017 catalog. Is it unusual for Spyderco to not deliver on NEW knives listed in the catalog?
Not really. There have been at least a few like that every year since 2003 when I started collecting. Good news is, they always hit the shelves eventually, even if it's a couple years later. As for ETAs given by Sal, the amount of salt those should be taken with is way more than a grain.

The ATR2 will be here sooner than later. I'd be surprised if we don't see it in February based on Sal's latest updates. It will be worth the wait :D
May you find peace in this life and the next.

Thanks Deacon. This helps. Complaining was not my intent. I only recently started collecting knives and was simply asking if delays were unusual. Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt and answering my question. Cheers!

Honestly, I kind of appreciate it. Sal's enthusiasm for getting new products/designs out has driven Spyderco to new standards for a while now. I would rather buy a knife from someone who is overly enthusiastic, but still waits for a quality product to put out, than a naysayer.
Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.

I am so pleased the FRN Chaparral didn't have to go onto that list. I understand the feeling of waiting.

Welcome to our forum.

ATR and Caribbean should be out in January. Though the ATR is limited production and may be harder to get for a while.
