I really get annoyed by reading people throw the word shill around from their imaginary throne of impartiality, but it is most bothersome when others come to a place I find enjoyable and trys to "piss in our pool". I'd gladly pick you up a Buck if you will take it an hit the trail.

I get the impression that many of you would be happier if we made all of our knives in China (cheap) and only sold to Walmart & Amazon (cheap) so YOU can get what YOU want as cheaply as possible? Or maybe we could get our crew, dealers, advertisers, shippers, suppliers, etc., to work for free?

It is our dealers that have asked us to do this. Not just B&M stores, but internet as well. Internet dealers have thanked us for doing it. The very same dealers that you get our knives from. Surely you aren't saying that you don't care about them, are you?

We don't make any more money from map. In fact it costs us more to monitor and enforce. Please try to broaden your understanding of production and distribution. You will have greater appreciation for what it takes to get you our product.

At least two major internet dealers (knifeworks and cutleryshoppe) protested the initial MAP back when I used them to buy your knives. I doubt we couldn't find more.

Your post and it's disingenuous nature make me even gladder that I went over to Buck. They too have plants in China and America, but their s30v can be had for $60. Someone at Spyderco is sitting fat, smug, and heavily with their fat finger mashed on the button while the rest of us rub pennies together. Good riddance.

No, I'm studying for a pretty big exam, and after studying constantly all day, your attention strays. It's actually good to have a minor distraction like this for those binge sessions.
But you're certainly angry, that's why you can't stop responding, making dumb non-points, flailing around for stereotypes to assuage your raw bottom.
By the way, how is it that even though you are here right along side me posting, you are not locked in your mom's basement?

These are purpose built designs generally offered in plain black handles with plain satin finished blades, using highly functional materials.

I guarantee that no one will use the Chinook 4, or that embarrassing m390 Police. The overwhelming majority of you don't use your Spyderco knives, because they cost so much. You hoard them, circlejerk on here about them for a dopamine fix, fondle them, polish their edges, swallow the marketing formula, rinse and repeat. I've seen about one actual mariner on here who used his Salt like it was meant to, and it rusted! LOL.

and no, doing meaningless cardboard "tests" and rope "tests" whose only purpose is to fight your buyer's remorse for spending $200 on a knife is not real world usage.

All you have to do is look at my Military review thread to see some of us do use them. My Spydercos have gone up numerous mountains, in various seas, to the desert, and have accompanied me on cross country bicycling trips. They've prepped dinner for dates, started countless fires with ferro rods, cleared trails, carved traps, helped me defend myself from a violent attack, and have broken down a few warehouses worth of cardboard.

None of my salts have rusted, even after being submerged in the gulf of mexico for hours without a rinse.

What's embarassing about the Police model? I think its one of the best folding knives on the market. If the price is the issue the Cara Cara retains a lot of similar characteristics for less than $25.

I'm brand new to the forum and just purchased by first Spyderco this week. Grown adults calling people "******" and bemoaning a free market over a price increase? Good grief. Here's some free advice from a new guy here, but well experienced in other collector forums...DON'T BUY the product if you don't like it or the pricing. No one is forcing you to spend your money. Sour grapes are annoying and pathetic to read.

I'm grateful for free market choices and the ability to freely decide what I spend my money on. If you want Made in the USA quality, made in the USA, and distributed by non big-box store retailers, you have to pay for it.

I came to Spyderco not only because of the quality and design, but because of its history, USA made products and extensive distribution.

I like Benchmade, ZT and other brands. I don’t care if Spyderco (sorry, vendors) raises prices if the knives are still competitively priced.

Prices go up, resellers have to make some profit to keep the lights on. All good.

At the end of the day it’s a hobby I enjoy and I don’t mind supporting Spyderco and paying a little more to the dealers that make it possible.

Sure I can find cheaper knives that cut things, but with that outlook I also could have bought a cheaper truck, cheaper whisky, buy my wife cheaper purses, etc.

Ya know maybe I'm weird. See, I view this as the Spyderco house. Like Sal and Gayle and Eric and all the employees have invited me to be a participant here. I feel like they are always open to critiques and commentary and even conflict. I truly believe they listen and I think it doesn't take too long to provide of that. But I also think that with that invitation comes some sense of respect and decorum.

This isn't a general forum. This is the hosted Spydeco forum. Have you ever watched a video of Sal or Eric talking? These are, as near as all my years have shown me, good people. I'm not talking about the products or the business. Just as people. Why would you talk the way you talk in their house?

Exactly my opinion.
Some goods and services are getting more and more expensive where l live and there's no real way around that. Gas, toll fees, rents, energy are goods and services that I can't do my life without (without completely changing my lifestyle).
I'm getting to a point where I don't like to have a bunch of knives unused. I like to try different knives, test new steels and designs, but more and more I'm trying to decrease my collection. If I want something new I'll sell something, hopefully I'll sell two and buy one, and use the remaining money to go for a trip where I can actually use the new knife and have a good time with friends and family.

One more thought: what if trips is just Sal trolling us all? That would be the best trolling ever :D

Meaning, is the price it has now going to increase once it's released, and I'd be better off preordering before the change takes effect? Specifically I'm wondering about the Caribbean. Thanks.
