Re: Spyderco ATR 2 release date?
I was looking through some old knife photos last night as I looked for pictures from my New Graham trips. Found some photos of my old PE ATR. This is one design I'm still quite excited for. I see it being a go to for RFP carry, while my Pacific Salts will be delegated to IWB carry.
There's a lot to like about the ATR. Cobra Hood gives the thumb a nice rest point, the ergonomics are a dream, the G10 scales on the new version will enhance the grip, the holes make switching grips a breeze, and I love the way the top of the blade creates a shelf to put your index finger on.
Debating whether or not I'll thin out the tip. I'll have to wait until I've had a chance to use it first I think. Been about 7 or 8 years since I sold my original ATR. The new version fixes the two things I didn't like (clip and slick scales).
If I remember to I'll post some photos once I get home from work.

Re: Spyderco ATR 2 release date?
We should be pretty close. I think we've got about 15 new models in queue to be released.

The first time I saw a Spyderco was the early 90s at a knife shop in a mall. I can still see the SpydieHoles through that glass display cabinet. My parents wouldn't buy any of them for me... so now I buy them all. :spyder:

Bump on this one.
I recently noticed the price update on certain sites from around 190 dollars to 211 dollars. Does this mean that we are getting closer to the date?

I think that is just the map price increase.mrags89 wrote:Bump on this one.

I went ahead and did a pre-order on this one from Blade HQ. I’ve had terrible luck with pre-orders in the past through knifeworks but I want to give HQ a chance. Fingers crossed!

Your killing me Sal! I bought three Spyderco knives in the last week. And now the ATR2 release?!?!
The ATR2 has been on my list since it appeared at the 2016 Amsterdam Meet. Looks like I should change my mailing address to The Doghouse for this one, because that's where I will be for awhile. :)
In all seriousness, I'm glad the ATR2 is finally on the horizon. Such a cool design.

Re: Spyderco ATR 2 release date?
Alright, I’m not sure you understand how happy this makes me. It’s kinda hard to wrap my head around the fact that I am more excited for a G-10 version of this than any of the previous models. Don’t get me wrong, they are beautiful and one of my favorite knives but for everyday use and hard use as well that G-10 is going to be perfect! It will 100% be my primary carry knife from here on out.....until the DLC blade comes along :D

Looking back on when this post was first created, it’s been a long time coming. Can’t wait for this to drop.

Re: Spyderco ATR 2 release date?
Having never used this knife before can someone help me understand the appeal? I'm having trouble seeing it personally but somehow it feels like I'm missing out on something haha
