I've had a modest number of Spyderco knives in my time:
Foundry
Ti Millie
A couple PM2s
Stainless Police
Manix 2
Manix 2 backlock
Native
Gayle Bradley Folder
And a few other folders I've probably forgotten as well as some fixed models. My favorite, perhaps strangely, is the darn Foundry. I don't post my opinion much, because frankly who cares, but I think it is a great design. If I were stuck with just one the Foundry would be my easy choice.
It's a very simple knife. Very strong, I mean it's a stainless steel frame lock after all. Almost nothing to go wrong, very little to maintain, good steel in XHP. Great blade length, good blade shape, the knife just works. Plus, it's easy getting in and out of a pocket and to carry. Ergos are fine, not too long. Love the thing.
I would like to see more similar designs. Full ti frame locks, non-flippers. I think a full titanium Gayle Bradley 1 in M390, CPM20CV, Elmax, etc., could be a hard knife to beat as well.
Meh. Off soap box. Pontificating complete.
My favorite Spyderco, possibly under appreciated?

It is a beautiful knife, for sure. Does the finish on the handle scratch easily? It is made for Carpenter employees from what I understand, does anyone know what type of steel the handle is? Is it a Carpenter steel as well?warbow150 wrote:I've had a modest number of Spyderco knives in my time:

Re: My favorite Spyderco, possibly under appreciated?
I believe the entire knife is made from Carpenter steel but I am not sure. The handle is not XHP. The description mentions the different steels but does not mention the screws.

I kept meaning to pick one up. I think some were put off by the steel handles, big logo and comparatively higher price. I hope we see a g10 version some day."The Foundry™ is a truly unique collaborative effort between Spyderco® and Carpenter®, an industry leader in the manufacture of high-performance steels and other alloys. Designed as a highly functional, utilitarian knife that is also suitable for outdoor use, the Foundry is proudly made in Spyderco’s Golden, Colorado factory exclusively with Carpenter alloys specifically suited to the various components of the knife.
Meticulously machined from CTS™ XHP particle metallurgy steel, the Foundry’s broad clip-point blade features a full-flat grind for strength and superior edge geometry and a Trademark Round Hole™ for convenient one-handed operation. It is supported by a handle that is also crafted from premium Carpenter materials. The scales are machined from Custom®465 Stainless and joined by a back spacer made of BioDur®316LS Stainless. One of the scales proudly displays an expression of Carpenter’s iconic logo, while the opposite scale forms the foundation of the knife’s sturdy Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism, which locks the blade securely in the open position. To ensure that the Foundry is always accessible, it also features a wire pocket clip formed from Custom®465 Stainless that supports right-side, tip-up carry."
