Mini Dyad C39

Post by Simon G »

Gents,

You know when you have the "wish" list of the :spyder: you MUST get as soon as there is one available, especially difficult as it seems my list is full of discontinued models!!

Anyway, just picked myself up a C39 Mini Dyad, NIB. :D Like I mentioned above, it's one that I have looked for, for some time now, so in my haste to acquire, have I paid too much or have I had a bargain? It stands me, with rough currency conversion, just over $70.00.

So, is it a rip off  , result :D , or just greed :o

Regards,

Simon.

Micarta handle??

Is your C-39 Dyad Jr. the one with the Micarta handle. I assume that it must be for that price range. I have 2 of them and I won't part with either one. I have 4 of the big Dyads and I will not part with any of them either. $70 is a great price as far as I am concerned. I saw one go for around $110 on Ebay this last summer. Absolutely great little knife. The big version is a classic as far as I am concerned. :) :spyder: ;)

lol, I hesitate to the last moment to put a bid on it, but already having the large one and needing the money for other auctions made me think twice... enjoy it :)

If you are happy with it then it was a bargin. I know that I have picked some up that I thought I payed too much, but looking back the price fade but the steel shins still.

I need to find one myself. I gave mine to my mom.

Years ago for Mother's Day, I was at the gun show, then on my way to my parents house. I still hadn't gotten my mom anything and was looking for something. I knew she needed a good knife and got her a FRN SE Endura. Her reaction was "Uh, gee thanks." The next weekend I go over there and she's got in in the kitchen, cutting steaks. "This knife rocks!" was the response I got when I asked if she liked it.

Go ahead about 4 years.

Thanksgiving 2001, right after dinner. The whole family is there and we find my mom unconsious in the bathroom. She had a bad heart and didn't make it to the hospital that night.

At the funeral, my family was putting things in the coffin with her. My brother and dad raced cars at the local dirt track and had just finished the season and put their winning trophies with her. My neice had a picture and letter. I didn't have anything except my Mini Dyad, a nice knife to wear with nice clothes. I pulled it out and clipped it to her pocket. She has a knife with her now.

Every trip to the gun show, I look for one. I found a new Tuffram SE Pilot recently but not the Dyad. One day when I have money and time, I'll go looking again.

sorry for the story, just needed get it out.

very touching story Brad, sorry for your loss.

If I were you, I wouldn't get another one... That way, the gift you made to your mother would be even more symbolic: the one and only dyad you had in your life, you gave it to her for her last journey. That's the way I see it.

You know, I thought the same thing. I really like the Dyad design and really wanted a larger model when I found the smaller one. Maybe one day I'll run across one and I can make my decision then...

Thanks for the good thoughts!
