Re: Recommend a Classy EDC Spydie
This is what I ended up getting him. Lots of good input here. I had to order something today, so that kind of tied my hands in that I had to get something available now.elena86 wrote:Classy+EDC+ (WOW! factor) = Titanium Delica

I think that is a great choice.

Micarta Persian, CF caly, anything in nishijin
Re: Recommend a Classy EDC Spydie
Gayle Bradley 1. Classy, built like a tank and very usable.
Playing in SW FL Back Country with Tarpon, Snook & Reds.

Great choice, you can't go wrong with a Delica!
Re: Recommend a Classy EDC Spydie
I just hope the one you get is better than the Ti/Dam Delica I received. The scales were so far out of parallel that the blade tang scuffed the scales every time I opened or closed it. I've been playing around with different washers and haven't given up on it yet. Guess i'm just spoiled by Taichung fit and finish.

Re: Recommend a Classy EDC Spydie
Well with the Jess Horn models being close to extinction and being really hard to find I'm thinking that maybe a KOPA model would truly be the best choice for a Gent's Folder. Because availability is a huge factor>> although in a perfect world I love to see some of the Jess Horn models return in a Sprint Run. If a guy could find that stag handled C-27 Jess Horn model that would be the ultimate Gent's Knife IMO.
The only gripe I've got about those KIWI models is that they don't have a pocket clip which I believe is absolutely necessary>> why own a Spyder if it doesn't have a pocket clip. To me that would be like owning a Rolex watch without a wrist band.
One other oldie I could recommend if you would be so lucky as to find one would be the Centofante C-25 model. It would not only be a great Gent's Knife but would be an awesome, agile EDC as well. Keep us posted and let us know what you ultimately decide upon.

Caly 3.5. Carbon fiber scales, wire low ride clip, laminated ZDP-189 blade.
Re: Recommend a Classy EDC Spydie
I forgot about that Des Horn model>> that would truly be a great Gent's Folder. Also I'm surprised that no one at all mentioned the original Howard Viele model. It and the JD Smith both were released at about the same time and I'm sure that's what they were both intended for.JonesE wrote:Chaparral, nishijin dragonfly, lil nilakka, des horn, air, centofante memory

Hey I've got two more classics that would make great Gent's Folders. First and foremost I can believe I forgot the C-56 Zowada model
Also the Micarta Dyad Jr. would to me be about the best Gent's Folder you could get.

Re: Recommend a Classy EDC Spydie
I have fallen in love with my Urban LW k390. It is a great gentleman's knife. It is the same size as a Chaparral, but has a cool steel and is a tad lighter in weight. The color is nice, too. But most of all, it feels better in the hand (I think this is because it is not so thin).
