New UnSharpened Manix
Received my new Manix today. I found the knife to be everything everyone here says it is except it came unsharpened.
I have many Spyderco knives in my collection, but have never found one to be unsharpened.
Has anyone else received a new Spyderco in an unsharpened state??

You are not alone. A couple of years ago I received a new Native which wasn't just dull - it hadn't had the "final" "primary" (or whatever you want to call it) bevel ground. The blade had been shaped but it didn't have the sharp edge ground. Instead the edge that was supposed to be sharp was flat - not dull...flat!
I called Spyderco Customer Service and the conclusion was that the blade hadn't made it to the final stage of grinding and quality control missed this mistake.
I returned it to Spyderco, not for warranty or repair, but to have the manufacturing process completed. By the way, this is something that I don't feel the customer should have to bear the cost of. This was especially important to me since I had to ship it internationally.
Call Spyderco W&R, tell them the condition of your knife and work out a solution to the problem. My Native was returned to Spyderco and came back with the expected Spyderco "scary sharp" edge.

Hi all,
there is more than one unsharpend manix out there.
When I bought mine, a sharpend one :D my dealer showed me one unsharpend one - it was exactly like the plain sharp one I bought just without the final edge - he was also wondering if he should keep it as something special or send it back - I don`t know what he did.
Seems that just a bunch of knives slipped through qc - this can happen - I`m shure Spyderco will care about it if you contact them and put the edge on - but on the other hand - there are not many manix trainers out there... so keep it
anyway it was a strange thing to see and feel...
and what I also have to say: the manix is a great knife, maybe the best spydie I have and I got Chinook I and II , 2 Starmates, Police, 2 Morans (one with konvex edge), a Viele, and some more...
It`s in my pocket since I got it and it`s supossed to stay there
thanx for producing a great knife again...
greetings from bavaria, shark
