This is my fav so far. My only requirement is this time it must have right and left hand tip up carry options.

Yeah I really like this idea.

Would anyone be interested in a smurf blue version?

:D Polished Blue could be cool.
The blue looks outstanding. Polished g10 perhaps?

Thanks for bumping this thread-- answers the thread I started.

I personally think the CF on my Szabo folder looks pretty good and would be good for the Lum Tanto, but looks like people don't like CF as much. Easiest way currently to get some hamon is on the composite blades.

Any official word from Spyderco??? You can put me down already for 2.

Maybe it'll be one of those unannounced surprises that we only find out about by seeing it on a vendor's site after we've all totally forgotten about it. Quick! Everyone forget! NnnnnnnNOW!

I’m going to go ahead and bump this one. A Lum Tanto with ivory white g10? Yes please. Of course I would take one in any flavor.

Oh hello Bob Lum Tanto thread. 8 pages is pretty good I must say.

I recently purchased a Reate K-2 to satisfy my need for a Tanto blade. It's very nice, and I like it very much. But it's not as well designed as Bob's. The lines and ergos on that knife were very nice.

Until then, here is my K-2.

I almost bought the same knife because of the blade grind, I love the lines on that knife! In the end it was a bit beyond my reach.

The only thing I hate about white or really light colored handles is that white especially gets horribly dirty very easy. However the nuclear colors like the ones you see on many of the FRN handled Spyderco folders don't seem to show dirt and grime like white does. So why not consider one of the nuclear colors like the green they used on the USN Catcherman model for instance.

More than anything I would love to see the C-46 Lum Tanto folder in one of the exotic Carbon Fiber handles. I was just looking at the knife company "Klotzli" ( Swiss company) and all the great folders they have with a wide array of really cool looking Carbon Fiber handles.

The more I think about it I truly believe that a C-46 Lum Tanto folder with a Carbon Fiber handle would just be super. I think Carbon Fiber and a superb Lum Tanto blade design would just go great together IMO.

From the recent knife news interview with Eric..

This could be potentially good news for the Lum Tanto folders return. Or maybe a new folder design.

“Glesser is keeping the exact contents of the catalog a secret until the reveal but did hint at one project we’ll see come to fruition. “We’ve perfected production Hamaguri grinds,” he tells us. A Hamaguri grind is a convex grind with radiused bevels down to the edge. Spyderco played around with Hamaguri in limited offerings in the past. But 2018 will see them implement this grind in a full-production bushcraft fixed blade. “We’re going to do it consistently over thousands of pieces,” Glesser explains. And he would like to see this perfected process implemented again. “We might even have a smaller folding Hamaguri knife.”

The possibilities are endless that you can plan for a Sprint Run C-46 Lum Tanto folder. I'm just going to be more wide open on handle materials>> I like G-10 and I'm starting to like carbon fiber more for everyday uses>> but whatever everyone else wants for a handle I can live with. But to me either G-10 or CF would be more ideal IMO.

But again I can't think of a better model to roll out one of these newer Japanese supersteels with. Even if they would do one with HAP-40 would be cool but as unique as the LUM Tanto is I would love to see it in a newer/better blade steel. Cowry X has crossed my mind and I'm sure Hitachi would have something that would be cool too.

The Lum Tanto folder C-46 is one of the few models that I love in combo edge>> I wouldn't even mind if they did a Sprint in CE.

This is starting to sound very promising! Heck, even if there isn’t a new Lum Tanto on the horizon (I know, the horror!), then it should be hopefully an equally awesome model! I’d love a Lum though (heck, I’d love to see my gray sprint one return from its extended vacation in Massachusetts! ;))

Hmmm, but he says "smaller folding Hamaguri knife". The Lum is pretty big, isn't it? Not trying to be a wet blanket, just trying to keep a grip on my hope so I don't get crushed by disappointment.
