Need anything more than a Delica?!!

#1

Post by Simon G »

Guys,

I'm a little troubled. Six weeks ago I returned from the Cayman Islands after helping my Best Man recover from Hurricane Ivan. Before I got there, he destroyed his :spyder: Walker Lwt, cutting roofing felt/ice and water shield. Just before I returned, I left him with my Delica SS SE, he needed it.

Every day I have taken something different from my modest :spyder: collection, but something has just not felt right EDC. All of my Spydies I enjoy for different reasons, but I have found that the Delica is THE perfect EDC. I've just ordered another!

A little of me feels that I am betraying my other Spydies :D but does anyone else neglect the others for a favourite child and in particular for the Delica?

Regards,

Simon.

Simon,

I suspect there are good reasons that the Delica and Endura continue to be some of Spyderco's top sellers year after year. They just work. The Endura is one of my personal favorites and I have also become a HUGE fan of the Stretch.

Aloha my brother Simon G!

My Delica left my EDC for a while as I was having fun with a BM Axis locker known as the 555...

The Delica has returned though! LOL! It has been and always will be one of if not my favorite :spyder: 's!

God bless you bro!

My very EDC is a Delica :D In time, many spydies came to challenge the Delica for EDC - and a few ALMOST succeded ;)

I have 12 knives and tend to reach for the light , strong ones.
My 2-week old Endura is my new #1 pick for EDC.
It was very nice of you to leave you Delica with your friend 2.

I love my Delica. The only :spyder: I would by choice EDC over it is my Standard, which is really a G10 Delica in my books. The Delica was the 1st Spyderco I meet. Fell in love with it on the spot. Great knife.

That said I'm forced to EDC a Meerkat most of the time based on size of blade and low pocket carry :( Love my 'kat but it's not a Delica.

I have carried a 50/50 ATS-55 Delica for the last five years. I carry it for several reasons: light, strong, easy to open and close one-handed, fits my hand like a glove, hasn't failed me yet. I've used it to cut battery cables, cable ties, open boxes, pop balloons :D , cut open blister packs, you name it; anything but as a prybar! As Stevie Ray said, there are reasons why the Delica and Endura are Spyderco's best sellers.

BTW, have you seen Alexandru the Great's "Dialica" and the Deacon's "Droolica"?!

*WOW*!!! ;)

I have the Endura, Dragonfly, and the Delica FRN PE. Like all of them but I am always carrying my Delica. It's an older model no metal clip,it has an FRN clip on it. I don't even know it's clipped to/in my pocket until I need it. I like the Dragonfly as it fits my hand and opens quicker than the Endura or Delica for me at least. I will keep carrying my Delica tho. I really like it, but I have not had a Spyderco I didn't like. (;-))

Aloha cdf!

I will second your G10 Delica...and since they'd do that, I could go for a G10 Endura as well!!!

I know my brother in CA would just "eat it up" if these legends were in G10! :D

A G-10/VG-10 Delica (tip-up of course) may be about the only thing that could give my Millie a run for it's money for pocket time.

The replacement Delica, as per first post, arrived today :D

Clipped straight into the front pocket, just where it is supposed to be

So, to the question that is the title to this thread, "Do I need anything more than a Delica?!!

NO!

But what fool said anything about NEED? ;)

Regards,

Simon.

Been looking through the archives this evening(girlfriend and daughter watching soaps   )

After almost 2 weeks of non stop carry I can wholeheartedly say that I don't NEED another Spydie than my Delica 3/SE ;)

My most two carried Spydies are the PE Delica 4 that I have and my black bladed Paramilitary.

Right now I'm carrying my SS D'fly but it's just not the same. When I get home the Para and Delica 4 will go back on me. :)

Right now I'm pretty sure that I don't need any more Spydies for a long time considering that they are all users.

There are many Spydercos I like and they get rotated in an out of use, but the Delica 4 is my favorite. I can't go without it for long!

I must admit feeling some guilt for not carrying my other Spydercos enough since the D4 gets so much use!

Delica is a tad small for my taste, but nothing replaced Endura Wave in my pocket (for more than one day, that is) since I got it. So I guess that's my favourite.

He, he, why do you think I call Delica "my love"? I found quite dangerous to recommend to someone a Delica or an Endura as it could probably be the last knife he'll ever need :)
