spyderhawk
spyderhawk
hi i am from australia, and have just managed to get my hands on a FRN black handled, fully serrated spyderhawk. The handle says "clipit endura" and the blade says "081".
just wondering about the serial numbers and such, and if a knife such as this has any added value(how much its worth), as it seems no one in australia here has a spyderhawk, let alone a low serial numbered one like this anyway.
thanks

:) :spyder: Hello there STEALTHX from down under. You and I already agree on a lot. The "Spyderhawk" is without a doubt my very favorite of all the hawkbill blades. It seems to have the thickest spine of any curved blade that ever came out of the Great :spyder: factory. As far as serial numbers and so forth I have not ( as till now) ever seen a factory numbered Spyderhawk. I know they are out there and I would like to know where to get my hands on one. I use mine much more often than any other hawkbill I own. Long live the Spyderhawk!!!! :spyder: :D

Hi Stealthx - Welcome to the Forum! I hope you'll like the people you'll meet here and that you'll return here frequently.
The Hawk you own is indeed one from the first series. Spyderco intentionally made use of the existing Endura handle. It slipped their mind that these handles were marked with the Endura name. Later series were with the correct name in the handle. The knife has been made in Japan, as most of the high volume models are. The Hawk has been produced with black and blue FRN handles and is not very rare. Although the Hawk is out of production since 2004, the knife has not yet appreciated a whole lot. Prices will still be below MSRP when you start scanning the web for it.
See Ya! :)

Back up units???
Is there anyone here in Spyderland that can tell me where I might obtain 2 or 3 more Spyderhawks. I do indeed like the blade so much that I would like to have at least 2 or 3 more of them for " Back Up Units". I have checked some of the more popular websites and so far no cigar. If more of them are out there I would sure like to know where to look. :spyder: :)
Thanks a bunch there Berzerker. Yeah I am getting ready to place an order for a Matriarch through NGK. I did look at their site but I guess I must have over looked it. I already have 2 of the plain edge ones. I really need a couple more serrated. You don't even see them on Ebay very often. I did pick up a plain edged one along with a PE Merlin on the Bay last weekend. If you know of any where else I would sure be appreciative. thanks a million for the tip. :spyder: :)berzerker wrote:Hi JD Spydo
NGK has them in PE.

Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks a lot "Deacon". I just got home from work and I will immediately go to New Graham knives to see if I can get another Spyderhawk. I guess it may be my preference but I have not had any hawkbill blade hold up to the hard work I put it through. I guess I am being a little redundant but look closely at the spine on the Spyderhawk. That is truly a nice piece of engineering that only the Great :spyder: factory would dare come up with. Thanks a million for the tip. JD Spydo :) :spyder: :)The Deacon wrote:JD,
New Graham shows the black serrated 'Hawk in stock too, just on a different page.
