Hopefully soon...I talked to Tyler at GP a couple weeks ago and he said he didn't have any info yet on when they were getting them, but I noticed they had real pictures of it up now and not just drawings. I have a pre order in as well, I'm really looking forward to my first Chap.

Spyderco do not generally give out release dates for knives as they cannot predict when the knives will arrive from overseas and how long it will take to go through quality control. The fact that the knife is listed on multiple retailer sites probably indicates that they are coming soon, just be patient :)

I may have to pick one of these up, when they are released. Don't tell my wife.

I definitely need one of these. I think they're going to be on the gift list this year, too.

While I love my CF Chaparral and absolutely can't wait for the lightweight FRN version, I can't say the looks of this one is doing anything for me. What's the backstory behind these particular scales?

Really looking forward to the new Chaparral with the groovy Raffir Noble Composite Scales.
"The C152RNP Chaparral Raffir Noble features stainless steel liners and smoke-colored Raffir Noble scales. Manufactured in Denmark, Raffir is a strikingly beautiful composite material that encapsulates metal mesh in a translucent epoxy resin. Raffir Noble combines a smoke-colored acrylic with brass and copper wire mesh to yield a unique, semi-transparent, three dimensional pattern. All other details of this knife are consistent with the Chaparral family, including a full-flat-ground CTS XHP blade, a sturdy lockback mechanism, and a reversible deep-pocket wire clip positioned for tip-up carry."
