I run an ultrafine needle file from my KME set up around the inside edge. I find most spydies don't need it. But I've had one or two that scratched up my fingernails before I filed them down a little.

This I use 400 grit and it works pretty well. A wooden dowel or I use a plastic marker. Just don't use your finger. You will round off the edges too much. I do this to all my Japan spydies. I don't feel the Golden ones need it but the Japan ones are sharp on the edge. Just keep checking as you go and stop when you get it to your preference.

A knife sharpener solved this problem about a week ago by rolling up a bit of sandpaper, and moving it gently back and forth inside the spider hole. It only took him two minutes and the spider hole was still prominent but a bit less sharp. So no grip was lost and it feels perfect on your thumb. It was alot easier than you would think.
